Every once in a while my keyboard stops working. This is unique to Elite Dangerous. The spacebar W Q E A S D keys fail to respond. The only keys that work is Cntl Alt Delete to bring up the task manager so I can shut down Elite. This happened 2 time in about 20 minutes. It is not a faulty keyboard. Nothing else I do does not effect the keyboard with the exception of Elite. Any one else have this happen? It happens about 50% of my Elite sessions.

What are those keys bound to? In the game, they are for ship control. Or they can be for moving around the panel tabs. That may be a clue to what is going on 🤷‍♂️

I seem to get this on occasion and it turned out to be that the game sometimes reverts to "windowed" mode (the "window" still takes up the whole screen so it's not obvious when it's happeneed) and so my PC assumes all my keyboard inputs are intended as "system" inputs rather than "game" inputs.

All I need to do to fix it is to hit Alt-Enter to put the game back into full-screen mode.

Not entirely sure why it happens but I think it might be related to the USB numpad I use as secondary controls for ED.

I have this as well from time to time.
It happens when I go to my INBOX, open a message and DO NOT use the return button of the message, but just close the top left tab. Then all keyboard related inputs (even those are bound with TARGET software to a HOTAS button) do not work anymore. Even hitting ECS to get to main menu does not work.

I can get them working again if I use a pure joystick input to get to one of the panels and exit them again. (I'm not shure how exactly, because I avoid getting the keyboard key error since I found out)

I have the same problem. I run with a HOTAS arrangement but the keyboard is still vital. Sometimes it just locks, throttle and joystick still seem to be work but that is not enough. One thing I have noticed that is probably important is that it only happens when I am 'looking' at some internal ship view. Never seen it when looking out into space or when docked. I have to task manager kill ED at least once per day to work around this and as I am more likely to be looking at something internal when it happens it tends to be at the worst possible time.

I can get the same keyboard lock by deleting certain inbox messages. Particularly nested messages.

EDIT - a workaround is to bind a non-mouse/keyboard button to focus on the comms panel. That should bring it back to life.

This is actually a bug that appears and disappears, usually happens when you go planet side in the SRV and then switch back to ship. But can also randomly appear.

I think this bug has been corrected for the next ptach. A little woraround is to use head look and enter galactic map/exit map and all will be ok.

I only ever encounter this issue after ALT+TABing out of the Game and back into it again.

Sometimes it appears the Game is maximized (Fullscreen) but not actually in focus for Windows/Keyboard Inputs.

Pressing ESC once usually solves it.
In some cases, I need to press ALT once, as pressing Enter key just cycles between Windowed and Fullscreen mode for some reason.

Oddly, only ELITE ever exhibited these issues, no other Gane ever did that.

I found plugging my keyboard into a powered USB hub solved the issue. My HOTAS is plugged into the same hub.

Also, I discovered plugging my mouse into the hub causes the OS cursor to disappear off and on. So that is plugged directly into the PC.
