Keyboard support

So today I had a pleasant surprise when I updated Project Cars 2 to version 2.0 on xbox: keyboard support has been added to the game, which means I can bind any action to a keyboard key.

Now that we know this is possible and allowed on xbox, any chance we could have this support added for Elite?

The kids downloaded the new Minecraft this morning - that has keyboard and mouse support in its options.
We're getting ever closer to cross-format play, aren't we Frontier? ;)

Ooh yes please. If I could use a Roccat... Whatever their lapboard is called... :)

Any word on mouse support?

With keyboard and mouse support on xbox it might not be so bad to wait the (likely) 6 months until I can afford the HOTAS X

I wouldn't use mouse and keyboard even if it was available

Why on earth not? I used to play PlanetSide on PC, and by direct comparison discovered that at least with regard to twitch gaming (fps and such) the mouse/kb setup is vastly superior to a gamepad, specifically the ability to set sensitivity and turn 180 degrees with a one cm flick of the wrist. I know, sensitivity can be adjusted for a controller as well, but the behavior is different. Mouse control is easy mode for fine aim and reaction speed

Then again this is just the results I experienced, opinions may vary, I'm just curious what your reasoning is

Let me put it like this.

A mouse is the most accurate joystick you can buy.

Can't fly a spaceship with a mouse. I flew an F19 Stealth Fighter and an F18 Interceptor and an F29 Retaliator and every ship in Elite bar the big lumpy white blob all with sticks. I'm not going to use a mouse just because it's easy.
I want a HOTAS because it'll be hard

Im with you Bongo, if ED's ships flight were led by the crosshairs then mouse would be good, but it is not.
The ship has to fly the crosshairs into position which puts it firmly in thr Hotas or controller realm.

Although that seems self-defeating, I get it. I would personally rather use a HOTAS regardless of any effect on difficulty for the immersion it affords, although I imagine at the very least it has to be easier than the context shift buttons and flight-mode switching afforded by my only current option.

The shortfalls of the controller are exactly why I hope kb/mouse support are added, because at least I would no longer have the controller to wrestle with. I'll buy the HOTAS when I can afford it, (at the moment probably at least 6 months out) but meanwhile I could at least play using a more complete set of available controls than I currently have.

That's my thinking on that matter. For what it's worth, even playing PlanetSide I switched to HOTAS for vehicle controls once I was able to pick one up (although I still used m/kb while on foot... tough to control that with a stick :D)

Thanks for listening, sorry for getting so verbose

That's fair.
