Keyboard support

'Operation Feng Shui' continues with a slight relocation of the Box ( closer to the relocated Recliner to allow for Hotas (on order) ) and Logitech wired keyboard (remembered I had one in the attic) I will probably get a 60% TKL keyboard at a later date.
Also have made a wooden shelf that will span the with of the recliner, first coat of varnish done......

Cmdr Bullet out

ps thought I would post this 'ere as slightly on topic :D

If you can use the k/m with a controller like on pc, that's how I'd play. I use a controller because it's comfort. Playing a console is about convenience and comfort. I have ED on Pc and still use a controller, alongside the k/m. However when playing csgo or planetside it has to be k/m. It's just personal preference really or what you're used to.

Any word on mouse support?

With keyboard and mouse support on xbox it might not be so bad to wait the (likely) 6 months until I can afford the HOTAS X

1. It’s up to the developer to want to offer it
2. This games involves PvP so it may be suggested not to offer it from Xbox unless players can choose to play with or without mouse/keyboard players but it wouldn’t be denied
3. The Fdev team would have to redo a few menus and add in more so it may be feasible or may not be

I wouldn’t assume it’s being added, it may be better to ask them to add it a certain way/time.
I can tell you from testing mouse and keyboard for a few months on insider Xbox one stuff, to me, the mouse was very laggy compared to playing those same games on PC.....it may not be as good as you hope but it’s different.

Im finding myself preferring gamepad and looking forward to US release of the HOTAS One.

1. we are always beholden to the all powerful Fdev
2. I can't see this being a problem since the PC crowd have had K/M, hotas, controller, and advanced gamepads, and I haven't read anywhere (in elite at least) of these lethal mouse pilots, and how it's just ssoooo unfair!
I suspect, regardless of which is the most accurate, or immersive, it comes down to simply personal preference, and whichever you prefer, greater choice is always better.
3. Once again I can't see that. As far as I can tell, all the menus are the same, the only difference is that instead of a cursor, we simply move to highlight the options we want. That being said, I'm no Dev.

I do believe we got a little sidetracked though, as the title says "keyboard support" and we've all gone on about flying with a mouse. Personally I would like keyboard support for a simplified key binding and eliminating the need for contextual menus altogether

I actually like the contextual set up, not having to lift a hand away fro the sticks seems a so much more efficient way of flying.
But there is now way round it for comms sadly.
My dream setup would have speak to text for comms but that will never happen.

Sorry My comments were based upon the ongoing test and respond experiences I've had on xbox one for the past two - three months.
There have been no cases where keyboard support was added or tested without keyboard+mouse. The more incredible update has been where the UK players are able to use the TFlight HOTAS One + Gamepad simultaneously which seems a bit cooler IMO as I'm all for the HOTAS experience.

I would guess they could offer keyboard only too

Hence the creation of this topic, where Project Cars 2 introduced keyboard support without mouse support, but just as an extra to bind other actions that you wouldn't need on a wheel or controller.
My hope is that Frontier does the same on Elite.
