KICS 4 Released - Free Voice Attack Profile for Elite

I don't think you understood what I meant. I know about the binding list on the website, what I was referring to was being able to rebind the keys in VA so users can change them to what they have already set up in ED.

To me it seems a more intuitive way of doing things.

Hope that makes more sense.

Can't wait!!

About the release date: seems the trademarked "soon" by Mr Brooke's gets used more and more around here :p

I do believe that SoonTM has been used a lot longer than here. It was being used in forums LONG before ED was kickstarted, and I would love to shake the hand of the person responsible.

Soon is now :)

AWESOME!!!!

Downloading now and will test it later today. Lots of New stuff to play with.

So I take it there are no new keybinds or changes to the existing?

Also, go back and take the color changes you did in the First post. If you don't use the default Forum Theme, its all black text on a black background. I can't read it :)

OMG just watched the Video. Your Superior Officers Bloopers are killer!

Text colour changed. I'll create a longer video this weekend walking through everything from installation to modification and some game play while using KICS. I think a lot of people are held back by the fiddly bits.

Yep, can definitely read it now.

I played around with it out of game earlier today. Lots of nice stuff in this update. The CRASH response is great, wish I spoke Dutch so I could understand. lol

I am sending you a PM about a Minor issue.

Having a problem with VLC and CLMControl volume control, I can see it's calling it but doesn't actually increase or decrease the volume.

I've tried running the command line myself and nothing happens. Every other control works like mute, play, pause so on. Any ideas?

KICS is incredible.

Thanks so much for doing this OP. You've, single-handedly, made my Elite experience a whole lot better.

With this, Track IR, and an x-52... I'm really in there.

Thanks again!

Really well done to you and your SO for putting this together! It's the only voice pack I use now and really adds to the experiance.:)

I would love to see some branching commands in there, such as (and i realise this is a poor example given how subsystems work but my limited imagination is failing me right now):

[on target highest threat / next threat] "target locked. should I target their [subsystem]"
Yes
No
No, target the [other subsystem]

Like I said, bad example but any 'Command > reply with choice > confirm choice' would really add to the immersion

A simple idea is to bind keys to cycle next previous sub-systems in the game, then create a command for when you say Power Plant to cycle through Next Subsystem with repeated key presses (7 times is what I count each time) to select it. Say Power Plant, press the key Seven Times then Fire away.

The problem with this is that every ship is different and the sub-systems are in slightly different locations.

I set myself up a command to target a ships power unit (target previous sub-system (x6)) however, on some ships it hits the correct subsystem and on others I need to give it an extra click or two manually, it does save some time though.

I get that until there are shortcuts to specific sub systems this isnt really feasable, It was more the concept of 'branching commands' as a whole. A better example might be:

"Abort jump / Emergency stop"

"Standing by. Please confirm order"

"Confirmed"
"Aborting Jump. Brace for rapid deceleration"

or

"Negitive"
"Understood, abort sequence cancelled"

This looks like something I would like to try, the radio addition is sweet compared to Astra, but....

whenever I update or change Astra/profiles, It takes an hour or two to match up the keybinds in-game with VA. It's such a pain.
Recently I started with an X52 from a game controller and had to remap everything again...

I only get about 3 hrs a week to play and then maybe 6 on the weekends.

Is there any easy way to match up keybindings other than alt-tabing?

Maybe side by side text editors or something?
A program that automatically reads the .binds files and writes them to VA?
