Killing Elite Anaconda in Eagle

The guy who posted the thread about the game not being challenging enough should read this and try doing it. Again, I don't see any immediate forced challenges with this game - but you can certainly choose to make up your own challenges. Well done. This looks exciting and I may just have to give it a try.

It was the most fun I've had in the game so far :)

I just managed to stay behind a conda in an asp for its entire (very short) life for the first time, I felt so damn proud of myself! Qudos to the eagle pilots here as well I salute your bravery

I feel that there is no real reason/motivator to grind money in order to get the better ships, thus really breaking the game for many.

That plus more important there is no reason to fly with anything more than 0 pips to SYS. Only draw back is when your SYS empties and you want to use chaff or other utility that uses SYS power.

Today I found a competent anaconda in one of the anarchy systems I bounty hunt in. It had a 35k bounty on it (which seemed low to me. I remember seeing much higher).

I have a mostly A rating viper, with 2 small beams, and 2 medium multi-cannons. I don't have chaff. Instead I have a defense turret which was not helpful in this encounter. Second utility hard point has the kill warrant scanner which I need to hunt in anarchy systems,

The hardest part for me was staying on its tail. The Anaconda would constantly flip over and try to get its nose on me. I would boost out and realign, pew pew pew, boost out and realign. I got its shields down and went for its power reactor. By the time I got its power reactor down to 25% I had run out of shield cells, so I boosted away and diverted power to shields to recoup. The anaconda regened its shields, and I used my beams from 3k to slowly wittle it down while I struggeled to weave around its fire even from that distance.

Then I rushed in, guns blazing, my shields going down as I aligned behind it and took it out. Only lost 6% hull.

I'm going to watch the video posted here again because there's a lot I can learn from it.

I always kind of wanted to try the eagle, but the fact they look like they're made of paper always puts me off. Good to see what there's at least someone who makes good use of the eagle!

+1 dude..

I use 4 multicannons, blast shield and power generator..boom. In a Cobra.. but you're "l33t" in an eagle :p

I dont use shield cells..

Well I don't believe it's true. Will check this in detailed test.

Make sure to come back with what you find, as I haven't tested it thoroughly myself.

Houston, we have a problem. Shield cells are overpowered.

Very much so. Its worth saying that was three cells, not three cell banks, but they're still overpowered. We discussed this earlier in the thread too.

Refer to this:

With 4 pips in systems the recharge is much faster and therefore resistance also. With 4 p you are almost invincible against Anaconda / python with multicannons. Solod many at nav points without shield cells and chaff in my half bad eagle

OK, regarding pips to SYS - C3 shield generator drained to 0% by class 1 fixed beam

4 pips 19,074 s
3 pips 10,329 s
2 pips 8,844 s
1 pips 8,316 s
0 pips 7,755 s

It's true but very non linear so, it's not worth keeping 2 pips, those will do better job in ENG.
ALL OR NOTHING :)

I've made separate thread about this https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=92286

With 4 pips in systems the recharge is much faster and therefore resistance also.

It has nothing to do with recharge. In the above test even at 0 pips the SYS capacitor wasn't drained to 0. So in theory shields have the source of energy to rebuild from. Normally more pips to SYS should only recharge capacitor faster. But as we can see it does more than that :)
