Kingdom Come Deliverance

Stop hyping up this game! I don't want to spend $60 bucks right now! :p

For God sake man. This is Game of the Year type stuff right here! Mega patch incoming in a few weeks and all fixing shizzle.

Don't deny yourself the experience! It's too damned good.

Gotta love the fact the this is a single player game, on the contrary of EA's 'no one wants SP anymore' , and also that it comes from an unknown (to me at least) developer.
In time, I will certainly pick this up!

Yep. It seems that the fate of us, "oldschool" gamers is in the hands of the likes of CD Project, Warhorse, Obsidian, etc. But I'm quite optimistic. Seeing how well these games do sales-wise, there is hope. :)

Oh, the game's terrible. Riddled with bugs. Unplayable with ugly graphics and the lead designer is sexist.

Good enough? :p

Well, it does fit the time period of the game in that case.

- The game world is a terrible place of war, famine and slaughter of villages.
- People are riddled with bugs (or at least lice of various types)
- Archery is completely unplayable since i suck at it.
- Graphics makes other games look ugly.
- Everyone *IN* the game are extremely sexist.

Also, they really need to add some...shine...to characters eyes because they all look dead and lifeless.

Pfft, it's only 49.99...you don't NEED the extra goodies.

I realized what KCD reminds me of.

Elder Scrolls Morrowind.

- You start off as a nobody
- You suck at almost everything (although you CAN read)
- In order to become better at something you must USE your skills

It's just that KCD cranks it up to eleven with things like:

- Clothing/Armour affects how people see you
- Brandishing a bloody sword can intimidate enemies
- Being dirty and looking like a pig wallowing in mud will have people NOT wanting to talk to you
- Being clean and wearing fine clothing gives you more respect among most people

The only thing i would like to see is an expansion on the crime system.

- Allow stolen goods to be sold in other cities
- Add the risk that traders and people from other cities can travel to another city and find their stolen goods
- Waiting too long with selling goods might get the word out to have store owners and guards to be on the lookout for you

Something im unsure about:

- If we wear facemasks/helmets can we be identified if we commit a crime and they cannot recognize us?

It certainly doesn't hold your hand at every step. Brings back memories of good old RPGs for sure.

Interesting thought about "masks". Some helmets SHOULD really make the character unrecognizable. Then again, realistically speaking, after a while, you do have a local rep, which probably means people recognize your armour, your weapon, your horse, your gait, even. So I don't know. And I certainly don't know how the game mechanic works.

You can learn to read fairly early on in the game, as in books.

Regarding stolen goods, what I normally do is leave them in my saddle bags and after a period of time has passed they are no longer listed as stolen so you can sell them full price. For weapons I normally sharpen these manually to improve my maintenance and the price I will get as well.

I like the idea of your past coming back to haunt you although this could be abused if you rely on teleporting guards or tradesmen. It should take as long as it would take for them to walk or ride between cities or villages.

Not sure about the facemask thing as I don't wear one of those but I would imagine they would recognise the rest of what you were wearing and identify you that way rather than by your face.

It requires serious horse power to run KCD graphics in Ultra, the same horse power which is required for VR in Ultra. (Consoles will never be able to keep up with graphics requirements of new games).

the lead designer is sexist.
Umm, are you being sarcastic ?, how can a game which is historically set in ancient White Europe be sexist or racist, how ?, it's like asking black actors to play the role of a white middle class family, or like asking white actors to play the role of slaves in a slave galley, oh wait the Romans did actually do that, or like asking black actors to play the role of white people who were stolen by The Arabs in the Mediterranean and the shores of Europe then enslaved.

The point is that history should not be rewritten just because someone deems it politically incorrect.

Waiting for the firest patch.

I backed KCD from the early KS days. I am glad I did and I am anxious to try it out! But, as with almost all newly released games these days. I will wait for the first major patch before I wade in. That way it is usually less frustrating and more enjoyable. At least to me.:)

I'll bet there are no female knights either! Goodness gracious how can anyone produce such a game. After all, it 2018 don't you know...! LOL

None whatsoever! The disgrace! This may well be this year's game of the year, but I'm getting my money back by knitting yoghurt and eating mung beans in protest.

And that's that!

He said the designer is sexist, not the game. As in 'the human being that designed the game holds and shares opinions, unrelated to the game, that can be considered sexist by some.' No idea why people keep believing that someone cannot be sexist in the 21th century because of the prevalence of black people in eastern europe half a millenium ago...

I was joking, of course. Jenner ask us to not hype the game. :p
I absolutely love it and adore the devs for what they achieved.
Upon launch, there was some ruckus from SJWs about the role of women in the game, which is, naturally, totally ridiculous. The lead designer was bold enough to comment on those accusations (basically sent them all somewhere nasty) so he was immediately labeled misogynist, sexist and all that other crap. I don't think he's anything like that IRL, though. Quite the opposite. From the interviews he seems like an extremely cool dude. Kinda reminds me of Michael Brookes.

Actually, it started not with anything game related, but by a series of tweets from the designer about gamergate. I dont know enough about it either way to have an opinion, but the 'he is just a poor victim of people wanting black people/women in the game' is nonsense. As for the 'realism' argument, its always weird to see it happening in games. I havent heard many people argue that rather than the +2 charisma buff you should realistically get STDs from visiting prostitutes in-game. ;)

Ah yes, forgot about those tweets prior to release. Doesn't really matter, though. Everyone can have opinion. :)

Sure. :) But I feel it is a bit wimpish when the cartman-style "I can say what I want!" types take to Twitter (the modern equivalent of the soapbox on town square), loudly yell their opinions on controversial topics to random strangers only to become upset when other people talk back. And its miles from 'poor introverted dev works on his historic dream game, only to be attacked out of nowhere by evil SJWs.'

In any case, it has not much to with the game so lets get back to that. :p

Heh, yeah. Definitely true that some opinions should better be kept private. :D

I'm completely in love with this game. Such a responsive, immersive world, where everything matters. Also love being "just a guy", not the "designated instant world saviour" like so many recent AAA RPGs... Even with it's rough edges, it sets the bar again for future titles in the genre.

The save system is indeed pants, had to install the save anytime mod. Also, mid-game it already feels too easy, especially compared with the beginning of the game, where being able to do anything successfully was a wonderful sensation of accomplishment.

Can't wait for future Warhorse Studio games.

As for the sexism/racism accusations, it just makes me love the game even more, I'm sick to death of those political correctness fascists.

Apart from the boss fights (really, cant we leave those in the 90s? :() this indeed is an excellent RPG compared with what the last few years brought us. :D

Out of curiosity: I have seen dozens upon dozens of people rallying behind the 'SJW so evil must protect game!" banner, but I havent really found people actively attacking this game at all, either in reviews or in this topic. Same in this topic: people go on and on about how stupid these mysterious others are, but I just dont see this massive attack of evil 'political correct fascists'. Are you sure you are not just falling for a clever marketing stunt?

"Evil people hate our peanut butter!"
"Ooooh, I love this peanut butter even more! I hate evil people!"

:p
