KM on PS4

I recently tried the keyboard and mouse in Fortnite on my PS4. I was really surprised to see how easy it was to use with this game. You can easily switch back and forth between DS4 and KM, and you can use keyboard with DS4 as well. When you press a key or wiggle the mouse, the response is immediate and the various "press [insert button or key]" tips change accordingly. After using K&M for awhile, I went back to DS4 because I've become more accustomed to using a controller over K&M.

My point is simple - it CAN be done. We've all suspected this, but I've just proven it (though I doubt I'm the first one). Obviously Sony allows this, as Fortnite isn't some "sneaking under the radar" game that nobody has heard of. Not only can it be done, it can be done well, and it can be done in conjunction with other devices like the DS4.

The one thing I did notice is that the mouse look wasn't as smooth as I would expect. I actually believe this is on purpose, to prevent K&M players from having an advantage over players using a controller.

Now whether or not ED will ever support this is speculation, but it's clear to me now that they can support KM if they choose to.

LOL As always!

How many players on PS4 have a keyboard and mouse they want to use? An incredibly small fraction. So why waste time on it? I don't agree with a lot of things Frontier do or don't do but I sure am glad they agree with me that they shouldn't be wasting time on these fringe requests. There is plenty more important work to do!

You took a poll, did you? I would bet there are a lot more PS4 players with a keyboard and mouse laying around (any KM will do) than who own that expensive yet junky HOTAS of yours, yet you seem fine with Frontier wasting their time on that. I'm personally more interested in keyboard support (I don't care to fly with a mouse) for all the extra currently-unmapped functions. Speaking of ($17 USD):

And if anything, Frontier has been "wasting time" taking KM support OUT of the game on PS4 (CTRL-B for example).

I'll take the bet there are more PS4 players who want to use a HOTAS on ED than want to use mouse and keyboard. Which means nothing as we can never get a definitive answer, but there you go that's just my opinion. Yours is clearly very different.

I would love to put functions I don't need instant access to like landing gear, camera mode, ship lights etc on a keyboard input. Would make combat life a lot easier.

Playing ED I've used a wireless USB keyboard for typing text, a Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS 4 and a Turtle Beach P4C comm headset plugged into the Dual Shock 4 all on the PS4. The PlayStation is very accommodating.

Seems a bluetooth one would work directly.
Can anyone confirm?

Nice, thanks!
That's one of the ones I've been looking at on Amazon.

How do you like it?

It's fine for what it does. I got that particular model as it had a trackpad that I might use in other scenarios and I liked the backlight feature for when the lights are low. It holds a charge pretty well and the arrow keys are easy to use. I'm not a fan of the sort of 'soft click' buttons all those keyboards have but all I ever do is type system names in and o7 so it's fine =]
