KOS List -- Anyone to add?

I've gotten a bit frustrated with Beta 2. Beta 1 was pretty nice, The occasional ganking when you're in a fight. All's well and good.

Thus far in Beta 2, I have logged in to play 4 times. The first time I was killed before I left the station. I didn't get that guy's name. Figured it was someone new. Respawned in my eagle, Killed as soon as I left the station. Frustrated. I logged.

Logged in the second time. Figured first day jitters and all. landed in High Intensity. Choose Eradin. Attacked by Eradin PC as soon as I fired at a Fed ship. Chased down and killed by CMDR REDACTED. Ok. Frustrated. Went to Low Intensity. Attacked almost instantly, died. Frustrated. I logged.

Log in tonight. Figure I'll try the Resource Extraction Area. Seems safer. Attack a Wanted NPC. He's broken. Wave off.

Turn around, see CMDR REDACTED. Ok He's sitting there. Not being aggressive, not Wanted. Flash lights to say hi, Close my Hardpoints to show no aggression, turn to head off. He cheap shots me in the back. Dead almost instantly.

Now I'm down about 15k credits, I've not had the ability to make any credits, the game started me back in Beta 2 with about 70k less than I earned in Beta 1...

...And I've about had it...

I KNOW there was a modicum of maturity before. I assumed it would go down a little, but it has apparently fallen off completely...and I don't have the ability to play around the jerks that have apparently invaded Beta 2.

It is very difficult to test, to enjoy, to play, when I get constantly attacked by players that show as "Clean", yet, as has been posted on these forums, are anything but.

I love Elite. I love the idea of the game, but I don't love being forced into multiplayer. There needs to be some way for the community to police these griefer types that pervade and eventually destroy all other online games.

I propose a KOS list, To let the community know who can and who can not be trusted, who to fire on first and ask questions about later.

My first Two are:

That One Guy
That Other Guy

Thanks

I've not yet encountered any of these griefers that you'd think be hiding behind every asteroid and station in the system with the number of these threads I see every day, but I'd like to address a few points.

1: You entered a combat scenario, picked a team and was shot and killed by a member of the opposing team. By no definition of the word can this be considered griefing. Personally, I prioritize enemy players in combat scenarios because they tend to be better pilots than the NPCs and they are far less predictable. It's better to eliminate the wild card then be rammed at full speed a few moments later.

2: Alright, I'll admit attacking a cargo-less, bounty-less person in an extraction belt is a bit uncalled for. But sheathing your weapons and turning your back to a potential hostile isn't exactly the best battle strategy. Players will be players and you have to have a degree of caution when flying with them. Keep an eye on the scanner, be wary when they follow you around and be prepared to dash at the first sign of hostilities. It's common sense in this universe and just because you have no ill-intentions doesn't mean nobody else does.

3: I'm pretty sure there is a no naming and no shaming policy on the forums? So you probably shouldn't name commanders specifically, and you really shouldn't compile a list and post it on the forums.

This is the only behaviour that really actively annoys me.

I personally don't have a problem with PvP killing at the Space Stations.

I have been attacked before but generally I keep very aware of my surroundings and thus actually welcome the challenge.

As far as PvP at warzones and in the asteroid belts, that is fair game in my opinion. There is no need for people to keep complaining about it on these forums.

Just my opinion.

You may want to redact the names as there's a no name and shame policy.

I, meanwhile, would like to add all the NPCs to the KOS as they've become much more aggressive and more effective.... tone it down chaps willya! ;)

As much as I'd like to involve the list of names im taking for the future of bounty bulletin board reference, It's not worth it, the moderators will surely take this post down and warn you as it violates their Terms and conditions.

I guess we're just going to have to ignore it when i happens and hope the devs reward us greatly for our patience with it all. Although saying that it's not really anything they can help, they can;t be held responsible for people just looking to wreck others enjoyment

I entered a combat scenario, and picked a team and was shot by a member of the SAME team. Reread please.

It wasnt a battle strategy, and it wasn't battle, and that wasn't the point. I didn't exactly stand down without first scanning and assessing the other player. Apparently I am too trusting that players in a BETA would be respectful of each other. It was always thus in the beta I have participated in over the last 20 years or so.

3: I'm pretty sure there is a no naming and no shaming policy on the forums? So you probably shouldn't name commanders specifically, and you really shouldn't compile a list and post it on the forums.

Unfortunately, I wasn't aware of that rule, but I have redacted them anyway. Sadly, that rule is exactly what allows the giref to continue.

Ceolon, unfortunately the only thing that allows this sort of behaviour to continue is to comment upon it.

They love attention. It's why they do this. They can't achieve anything else so this is the only thing they can do. Let me repeat that - that cannot achieve anything else.

If you ignore these idio.. <cough> beta testers then they have achieved nothing.

They do not like that. It riles them up and upsets them because they want to be special, and gaining notoriety in a beta test makes them feel like big strong men.

Just test the beta, have a beer, see what bugs you can find, and enjoy a laugh at all the special little snowflakes :)

I think single player or group playing will be popular.

Yep... A lot of us really are looking forward to single player or even better 'invited' group play. I'd really enjoy much more playing with my real world friends in an otherwise single player version.
Any others ?
Gary.

grouping will solve all these problems. these players will just find themselves with other problem makers. though I doubt you will find them in iron man mode for any length of time.

Here's the thing chaps and chappettes - the forum rules are pretty clear on the naming and shaming of players - A number of you have managed to ignore this rule so a few things are going to happen.

1. Thread is now closed
2. I will refer you to the rules:

Please kindly read the rules here: http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18103 specifically the section that says:

No witch-hunts/mob-mentality hunts
We do not permit the Frontier forums to be used for 'witch-hunts' or mob-mentality griefing. This is essentially the inverse of naming and shaming where people will try to bait others into ratting people out.

and

No Naming and Shaming.
We do not allow "naming and shaming" discussions, or types of content deemed naming and shaming on the Frontier discussion board. Naming and Shaming is the act of publicly naming someone and ridiculing or accusing them of something. This also includes putting names on a blacklist in your signature or thread.

3. I shall share an observation and give you all a general warning:

Please read the rules, understand that they are there for good reason. We understand that aspects of the gameplay may very well be frustrating however this is in a Beta phase. All this 'ganking'/'griefing'/'unfair play' is actually an integral part of understanding how people may well attempt to play in the release. For Frontier to develop a game that is not only enjoyable but also well balanced and fair to all gamers requires these things to be addressed and if everyone was playing nicely the whole time then we'd all be in for a fright post release. The reality is that the gamers that are exploiting and engaging in unfair/unsportsmanlike gameplay are actually going to make it harder in the long run to carry on like that because Frontier will address it in the balance in future betas.

Now onto the warning - breaking the forum rules will result in warnings, infractions and if you've racked up enough - bans. Do you really want to be banned from the forums because you got frustrated in the game and immediately came here to vent? We would expect not. Take a break, grab a coffee/tea and come back to it later, we have no desire to be dishing out bans for this kind of thing.
