Krait mk2. Useless ship now?

With release of new ships I can't any use for Kraint mk2. Kinda pity, because this is one of few ships in my collection that has a ship kit. Played her role years ago, but now? What for? Worse than Python in general mission running or mining. For combat? Perhaps, size 7 distro gives an advantage of using more demanding weapons and perma boosting, oh there's slf if someone fancy them. Personally I find Python mk2 much better and faster killing machine than Krait mk2. Exploration? Phantom is better here, not to mention Mandalay. Besides combat, I'm not seeing much options to consider. What do you think? Do you fly Krait mk2 and what role Krait mk2 has in your fleet?

My Krait has been relegated to mining duties. A ridiculously engineered miner. I've long been considering building it for AX combat, but Chief has been good to me and I never got around to it. I still really like the ship...I want it to be best in class at something. Though I feel the Cobra Mk 5 will be the final nail in the coffin.

I still have 2 krait 2s. I haven't kitted out the mandalay but still using krait 2 #1 as the bubble hopper with all the scanners on it. Maybe I'll load up the mandalay the same to see if its slightly better. Maybe not.

I have one for mining and industrial work, too. Can't see any of the other ships taking that job. I mean I have a T8 but meh.

The Mandalay replaced my Krait Phantom for mission-running, at least. I'm keeping the Krait Mk II until further notice, it's still useful.

My runaround was a Phantom until I bought a Mandalay.
The Mandy, basically, does everything the Phantom did but jumps 10Ly further.
The Mandy isn't quite as fighty as the Phantom was but I'm okay with that because it's a bit pointless owning combat ships when you're flying a scout ship that can explode Elite Annies without breaking a sweat.

Anyway, stripped the Phantom last night and flogged it so I guess I'm committed to the Mandy' now. 🫤

Regarding the KM2, I still have one as a multirole, one as a DC miner and one for, erm, "special projects".
Dunno if they're the "best" ship for those roles but they're good enough that I'm not in any hurry to replace them.
Haven't tried the Python 2 but the KM2's efficient boost means it's really, really, good at keeping up with fleeing passenger ships. 😐

For me the Krait MK2 is still the 2nd best bubble ship behind the Python, the New Mando third on the medium scale.
Krait has better internals, better hardpoints and still better for seeing what's underneath you.

The new ships are nice but others are still better.
For me the Mando only wins as a medium explorer but its going to be hard dragging me out of that Python cockpit.

not that kr2 isnt my fav miner, but im also currently refitting old pp1 hauler kr2 into general purpose pp2 runner.
py2 doesnt have enough internals and i like py1 more as a combat specialised cz runner.
no other ship can do all the things as well as kr2.

The Krait II is still the ship I fly most, primarily for use in AX Combat Zones in the frontlines of the war.
The Python II is a decent combat ship no doubt, but it doesn't match the Krait II for Power Distributor or internals, so can't compete with it for AX CZ duties where stacking Hull and Module reinforcements, carrying AFMU, repair limpets, etc. is important for survivability. (Though for certain AX tasks the extra hardpoint does give it an advantage.)

The Python II will likely replace the FDL for me, not the Krait II. The only new ship that has a chance of replacing the Krait II is the Cobra V, but I anticipate that it won't have the hardpoints to do so.

But not by enough to worry much about and if you care about handling it is better.
For combat? Perhaps, size 7 distro gives an advantage of using more demanding weapons and perma boosting, oh there's slf if someone fancy them.
The SLF is a useful edge in combat not only helping destroy targets but decoying fire away from you and hindering targets escaping.

I have a couple one is an armed cargo hauler the other is a combat/AX combat build.

I have paint jobs for the Krait Mk2 and Phantom so they aren’t going anywhere.

The T-8 couldn't do it, but my K-MK2 fell to the Mandalay, which will likely succumb to the C-Mk5 when it becomes available. I can't see how a Pre-SCO ship will stay on my list. SCO rules. To make any of the previous small and/or medium ships viable, someone is going to have to make a modification for older ships to beef them up in order to handle the SCO drives. I can't see any other way.

In my hands at least, it's about the most effective AX combat ship.

Build:-

Python Mk2 has really limited internals, it’s not much use for anything other than making other ships explode. However, it’s extremely good at that.

Krait Mk2 is an excellent jack of all trades, you can do pretty much anything with it.
And it has the option of a Fighter Bay... 2 x the fun

While the Mandalay is nice, it's certainly not the universal replacement for all other ships. I have two Kraits, one is my AX fighter, the other one is what I use for what I call heavy combat (PvE, not PvP). Just can't beat the hardpoints paired with the distro, you can make it very tanky while retaining a decent jump range.... so nah. The Mandalay cannot fill that role due to the hardpoints and the distro.

I consider the SLF a hugely useful exploration/scouting tool and rarely set off to do any intentional exploring without one. Jump range is for ferrying ships in the absence of a fleet carrier, not exploration.
