I have spent the last week or so flying this way and that to find supplies to deliver for the new Nanite Torpedoes. My character has not fought Thargoids and most contacts have been hyperdictions, where escape is the only option since my ships are not AX builds. So my knoweldge of combating these aliens is VERY Limited. I actually played the game to get to Triple Elite without ever loosing a ship or being killed by hostiles and should that happen I would start another character, hence my reticence to engage in Thargoid combat. I am also not a member of their Team.
Nevertheless I have been really interested so see how the Elite community has responded to the Thargoid Invasion and taking on the Thargoid Titan motherships. The Anti-Xeno Squadron guys and gals posted a video on their proposed srtrategy which involved them, spending a lot of time and effort to design a ship that could effectively cripple and take down the Titans. The video they released was detailed but easy enough to understand and really interesting to dicover why the Mamba would be modified to become the "TitanBomber" and why it was the best choice.
I then watched the Anti-Xeno Initiative Live stream and watched the Squadron dive into the maelstrom, escaping hyperdictions to then fly through the Pulse defense systems, asteriods and Thargoid patrols to reach the motherships. You were able to see all the build design aspects all come into play, from keeping the Ship heat at 19% or below, use of concordant and regen turret lasers to let the mamba's support and reinforce each other, as well as use of Caustic heat sinks AFMU's, Repair limpets, Thermal Vent Huge Hardpoint Beam Lasers, Enhanced low power Shields, Type E Shield boosters and Clean Thrusters to stay alive in the Maelstrom, along with the Nanite Torpedo launchers.
What also rocked was then seeing them realise they did not need so many Titanbombers as they first thought, adapt to then bring in different ships from the squadron in order to use different weapons to effectively take down the exposed core of the mothership.
The attack on the titans was well led with the team members following the instructions of their leader without the creation of angst. you got to see them adapt to the intiial unsucessful bombing runs and look fto improve the effectiveness of their Tactics, which they did extremely well. Feedback from the individual pilots was highly valued and much was learned from what they all observed. Seeing that first Titan core reach 0% was almost an anticlimax as I really would have loved to have seen that mothership shut down or blow up (I'm not fussy) and of course that did not occur. They will have to keep going back again and again, which i'm pretty sure they are probably doing right now.
So, to the Anti-Xeno Initiative pilots. . . . . Congratulations on being amongst the first to Drop the Hammer on Titan Taranis and making the event Most Entertaining to watch and very Exciting in the process. I loved every minute of the Streaming when the Servers came up. KUDOS!
