Kudos to the community management team!

I just want to thank Zac and his team for all the improved interaction with the community lately! I really like that we get new features constantly, much better than half a year ago!

Just in the last few months we got weekly Horizons "sneak peeks", "Answers from the devs" on a regular basis in addition to the established "Dev updates", "Newsletters" and "Meet the team" threads, now the "Community Special" on Obsidian Ant, Eds new "Educating Ed" series and the "Name a station" special, just to name a few.

I really enjoy the much enhanced interaction with the community!

Thanks a lot for your work, guys, really appreciate it! :)

They really do work very hard, bless em.

I think it's been great for the past 4 weeks or so. More events/interaction is always a good thing, it's making the galaxy feel more alive to the point where I'm beginning to feel a little isolated in solo play and find I spend more and more time in open play - This is a good thing for the game if more of us solo players come into open to have some fun!

Communication and interaction is way, way better than before, I agree. I think they've realised that it's a game and not a accounts package and that people get passionate about it (which is something to be fostered), and they want and appreciate information and interaction. It's great to see.

You're saying people don't get passionate about accounts packages? I know I've got very, er, emotional about SAP on many occasions...

Going postal, smashing your keyboard and throwing your monitor out of the window do not count! :D

Funny I was thinking just the same the other day, especially after watching the pretty funny educating ed video. I can't play as much as I want to at the moment as I'm snowed under with work, but I do get time to keep up with some of the community stuff and it really has improved loads lately so much credit where it is certainly due. If I wasn't stuck on a mobile device that won't play with me if rep the op for starting the thread too!!!

hard work is getting up at 5 and making a 2 hour jouney to a construction site where you carry hods up and down a ladder all day......
if you call going to a video games office in your own casual clothes and having a laugh all day hard work then there is something wrong lol..

please give me a job FD

lol a man is allowed to envy others

but on a serious note....i am glad they are now producing these dev vids each week and showing us stuff....im looking forward to one of our knights of the realm answering some questions tonight.....from the Elite god and creator himself!...(lets not forget ian bell though)

Was going to post something along similar lines, a lot has happened and it's all great. The Dev Q&A sessions were some of my favourite if I'm honest and the sound team AMA and that. I also loved following the treasure hunt last week too even if I couldn't take part myself due to real life issues.
Hopefully the Devs have also benefited from the increased interaction.

Although we do need a meme for the recent live-streams: "The level of hype is too damn high" :)

Head of Communications
Frontier
Hey guys,

I just wanted to post up here very quickly and say a huge thank you to everyone for their kind words.

I think the key thing to mention here is that Frontier understand and appreciate all of the players so much. They've quadrupled the size of the Community team from 1 person to 4 people over the past 5 months and I think this really shows their commitment to making sure that the players are truly connected and a part of the game for the long term.

Communication is one element of what we're doing and a lot of that is about connecting the devs and the community. We're really lucky that the dev team are very community focused. This runs from the very top all the way through development. The fact that you have David wanting to take part in AMA's and livestream Q&A's is because he is so passionate about the game and the content that the team are making. You also have people like Mike Brookes who are always keen to respond to dev update threads, go on panels and to events and listen to the community. This level of community focus runs all the way through the development teams at Frontier and it's one of the big reasons why I love working for a self-publishing studio, because the game and the players are so important.

I know it sounds cheesy but I really do believe that we as a team have the best job in the world. Ed, Dale, Brett and myself are all really excited about being a part of a great community and love coming into "work" (It's so not work) every day is just the best.

We've got more plans in the works and some big projects for next year as well as other cool stuff for this year too. Looking forward to sharing it with you.

Ultimately none of this is possible without the very awesome players that make the community brilliant so for me it's more about saying thank you to all of you who make Elite so much fun.

That was around the time I joined the team, right Zac......? Coincidence!?!?!?

On a more serious note, though, with the team being at its current capacity and everyone having clearly defined areas of expertise and roles within the team we've been able to really offer more in terms of content and interaction. We have more time to plan and create interesting content for the live streams, the Community Site articles and features, and the secret stuff we're doing behind the scenes that will make everything even better. You'll have to wait a bit for that though. It'll be grand! ;)
