Lack of Interest

Your feelings echo my own.

ED is a game that shows great promise and one that I expect to yet achieve great things. Today, though, I cannot get much enthusiasm to fire it up for many of the same reasons others have already stated. That said, I expect FD to flesh it out in time. In the meantime I'll just hang back a bit and watch how it develops without playing too much I'm afraid.

I'm rather getting this way myself. I've enjoyed playing the game but my interest has dropped off of late because all there really seems to do at present is grind credits for better ships. Probably will take a break and see what happens with the new content releases.

The game really does need embellishment in quite a few areas but I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day.

Even if it hadn't released early and all of the proposed design content had been in the game from day one a lot of people would have had enough of it after 2-3 months, I think that is only natural. Limited initial content has just foreshortened the process a bit probably. The long term viability of ED will be about how many players keep at least some sort of contact with the game; occasional play or just keeping the newsletter subscription. Presumably FD needs some baseline figure for players to whom they can sell DLC and game extras to keep themselves and the game funded. Hopefully the new content over the next 4 months or so should encourage at least some lapsed players back to have another go. I always had GTA5 PC on my agenda as a game I want to play so I'll go and do that and check back to see how things are progressing; but obviously new games do come out and it'll depend on what new shiny things are available as to whether I'll be more than just an occasional player past March - but even as an occasional player I'll probably get the DLCs just to try them out; there's no need to be a hard-core 'I'll play ED until I die' type, most of those will fade away and disappear with burnout anyway.

I envy you people who've had enough time playing this to get bored! I get about 2 hours an evening and maybe a few hours over the weekend at best.

However Ive amassed 2.5 mill credits since resetting my Cmdr at launch, and not once felt the game being grindy. If anything I find it hard not to go off piste with my original plan for the two hours I have and end up smuggling some cargo Ive come across or co-op bounty hunting with a friendly commander I bump into along the way, or finding a juicy deal on some wares that would make a killing in the right market..but whatever I do I try to make money in the background trading, not the big trading for big profit per se, but just picking up something that will sell well (probably, I dont use slopeys market thing, I just use my head) in wherever I plan to go next.

Ive a Cobra and I love it. Suits my play style down to the ground. With the next update in over a week things are looking very exciting indeed to me :)
