Landing radar question

When it comes to hitting the pad, and getting Rob in the workshop to fix it afterwards, it is all about practice.

Plus there is the argument that if I get it perfect every time, Rob will be out of a job, so I have to be careful to share the love around.

Faceplanting a planet is a different matter altogether, but can have the same principles applied too. As long as you don't smack it too hard, you can get back to see Rob later on.

Ergo, the only socially responsible way to interact with pads, is to use them as brakes.
The Hat :)

When I was slamming my ship into the ground shields off to p-off passengers, I noticed that if I filled up that bar to where the color changed I would damage the hull. So maybe a safe landing speed indicator?

This is useful information. Now I have a second target to aim for which is good. I shall keep Rob in repairs working for years yet!

Just a bit of semi-related follow up.... I set my second commander out doing some surveying this evening. He's just got back and I had him investigate the lower part of left hand column next o the landing radar. Some had said it was a VSI but I thought I'd seen it react as thrusters and possibly not just the vertical axis..

My controls for thrusters are on the pov hat on the back of an x-52 HOTAS throttle, so not a lot of fine control to be had. I got a positive reading on the left hand bar when thrusting down, rearward, and to the ight. Nothing for up, left or forward. The six lit segments at the top of the left hand bar remained steadily lit. What a weird indicator....

For me, ignore the readout visuals and line up on the center spot and the pad number (intensity guides me as to fore and aft centering, though each ship is different).

I do forget the landing gear at times.
