Landing Request DENIED?

So I was running a delivery mission to an outpost in my AspX last night. I was about 4K out and requested to land. I was simply denied. No explanation. I sat there for a couple mins trying to figure it out. I requested several times and kept getting denied. It was about the 5th or 6th time I requested docking that I was finally cleared.

I have no idea why I was being denied. Only thing I could think of was because it was only an outpost and only had one medium sized landing pad for my AspX, that maybe there was an NPC using the pad and I had to wait for them to leave. I'm not really sure because the pad was on the opposite side on the outpost and I couldnt see it.

Anyone know?

There were no player controlled ships in the area. Only NPCs

NPC's use landing pads as well :p

I usually "contact/landing permission" repeatedly hoping to get the call in before another Cmdr/NPC, takes about a minute or two. You can also do as above stated and go solo then back to open.

It happens in solo too, especially with medium size ships, some outpost seem to have only one medium size pad and several small ones.
AspX is medium so it's likely to happen sometimes.

I've had this a few times even in Solo Play, it just means all the pads are full. The first one threw me because I could see the pad empty but there was a ship in the hangar below, so the pad wasn't actually occupied per se

I've had the same thing happen to me a few times. Lost a few bonuses too, even in PG, due to NPCs squatting on the pad. I tried to ram them off the pad.......that didn't work very well. Those docking clamps are Sirius.

Not had this before, but a few times in the lat couple of nights - the docking computer forcing me to wait in a queue of one (i.e. just me), no traffic, nothing moving ...nope you're playing a British game so you're going to learn how to queue like a pro before we let you dock ;)

Why do that when you can queue like a motorcycle rider? Lanesplit through the mail slot and then drop throttle. Why give station control a boring day when you can make someone spill coffee all over themselves? Nobody tells Ghostrider the pattern is full.

If you're queued in some arbitrary waiting line, try moving into the space station and letting flight control take over. That will fix your problem like a boss. I do it every time my auto dock pulls that stunt.

Didn't know you could do that, I'm still queuing ....

....nah, that's what I end up doing - manual override then once through the slot it's fine

At Stations I'm quicker than the DC through the slot but it beats me hands down on aligning and docking on the pad itself so I usually hand it control once through the mail slot - for Outposts I just let the DC handle things - although I still do the occasional one just to keep my hand in.

I've got over 700 hours in the game and I still haven't tried the docking computer.

As for request denied I usually find the medium pad and wait for the NPC to leave the pad and rerequest.
