Large landing pads at outposts

There are large outposts capable of landing large ships. They are called "orbitals"

What you're saying is basically that you don't want there to be any more small stations; only large ones.

I think the richest corporate and military outposts should have, at most, a single pad for large ships, perhaps replacing the medium pad. Every outpost having that? No.

I think that some outposts on the very fringes of space shouldn't even have a medium pad. Perhaps a miniature outpost with 1-2 small pads, and that's it? Oh yeah.

I think we do need a greater variety of space stations. Maybe some of them could handle a single large ship or whatever. But no, we don't need them all capable of that.

Given we play in a Galaxy I can never understand who we get these cookie cutter space stations. Surely as humans spread out over time and distance so did the variety (and materials) of stations increased.

It is not like houses all of the world are the same...

I imagine quite the opposite: huge factories where robots produce the pieces of an orbital, assemble them into modules, and ready them for shipment. They look a lot alike because: why innovate? The design is good, it works, it's been test and found durable.

Remember that experimental habitat they made a couple hundred years ago, what didn't have the correct reinforcement around the center axis and flew apart, losing almost half the population down the gravity-well? People won't forget that in a hurry; all the "shooting stars"....

:) Where I work, they've repainted all the internal parking bays to perhaps a 5th less than they used to be, to make room for more cars. As a consequence, all the big trucks now have to park outside. A lot of fat F150 owners now actually have walk some distance to and from their vehicles - the horror! It's the same in Elite - drive a big ship, you need to find big bays.

I'd like to see external moorings for large ships at outposts with refuelling drones running back and forth from the station.

That would be awesome. Presumably that's how capital ships refuel, etc.

For that matter, I'd like to see a space dock for capital ships.
And floating palaces for the Imperials to bask in.

I have seen outposts, military outposts, and penal colonies that do not have refueling capabilities, repair shops or even commodity stores. If you look at their desriptions, many of the outposts are TINY... they don't have the manpower to do do much of many things except for what they are out there for. Even if the drones are automatic... it takes someone to overlook their functions and that is a time waster for a team who is already stretched. Nice Idea but I am skeptical of it working. Don't you think that those nice big juicy ships just sitting there look like a duck dinner to pirates?

Next will come the hoopy casinos, bawdy houses, drug dens and then (shudder) civilization and the law.

I don't see why Outposts couldn't have umbilicals for large ships - that would let you refuel and transfer cargo but not give you access to the Shipyard etc.

Apparently, there are some, although I have never seen them.

And no, if they are super rare, then they should stay super rare. If they are not in the game at all, then they should not be included, to be honest.

What is with this obsession with making things easy. There has to be advantages and disadvantages to everything, outposts are small and basic, not suitable for a giant T9 or larger ships.

Leave it be.

As more large ships are added to the game, panther clipper, corvette and others large landing pads should be added to outposts in all systems.

Not all outposts, but some would be cool. Of course they would have to mention this in the system map.

It would also be nice if large ships got another method of docking at certain stations: via umbilical.

I'm fine with outposts not being able to dock every kind of ship.
Much like real life the big ships call at the big ports and cannot even enter small ports (or they run aground).
Hence the small ports are the specialty of the the little ships.
Helps keep some ship diversity.
