Engineers Laser colors and how to change them through engineers

Pretty simple question.
When I get back from BP I'd love to do anything I can to change the bloody color of my lazers. In all reality that's the only thing I'd like to change. I asked on the last live stream with MB if it was possible and he said yes and that there were 6 or 8 different colors if I remember correctly. Does anyone have any insight or direction to go about said color changes? And do the different colors have to represent different physical effects.. because if so that sucks for me lol

I so hope that when 2.2 hits we can choose between rainbow or tartan lasers (polka dots might be tricky).

As far as I can tell (from my time in beta when the engineers would do anything just for fish) the different colours are tied to different effects. I guess the idea is so that people have some idea what they are facing, the same way a blue flash indicates rail guns and a purple glow for PAs

As the previous post said, I believe the different colours are caused by the special effects roll during the engineer process. That one day we will be able to choose at the cost of rep.

answer is that no, you can't change the color of your lasers because the color is directly tied to special effects. Hope and pray for the 2-8% chance and then pray again that it's what you want until the patch. and even then you'll still need to pray.

They plan to allow you to reduce rep with the engineer to chose a special effect. Just haven't implemented it yet.

One of the medium turreted beams on my Anaconda is now a pretty green colour by accident.

Tying the color to an effect isn't giving us the ability to altar them. It's a hugely minor thing but it is worth mentioning that in the long list of other disappointments.
