Laser mining vs Core mining

So I returned in Elite after a really big amount of time. I want to grind some money with mining but I'm not sure what to choose. What is more profitable?

Laser mining Platinum is the best for cr/h

Look for metallic rings. For instance in Algol. which as a bonus gives fantastic views while mining. Then there is a metallic ring in Macua with a Haz Rez. That means you will get more fragments per rock if you stay within 20km of the Hazres. Do mind that NPC will/might attack you. Let them scan you before you start mining. LHS 3388 has a similar hazres/hotspot.

Here is a cmdr showing how mapped mining works. With even greater cr/h. Look for stations to sell Pt in inara

Thank you CMDR. And what about ships? I am thinking of anaconda or Type-9 because I want more cargo space. I guess you don't need much maneuverability with laser mining?

Anaconda and T9 both work fine.
I would prefer more cargo and limpets over more power for the lasers in the anaconda. So T9.
Conda makes it more easy to travel to a station to sell. But I do not mind stopping to get fuel. Be aware of NPCs! Give them your Pt or run the risk of being blown up.

If you have a Cutter. I would use a Cutter. But do not let that stop you from enjoying some mining.

Npcs are just npcs. They are not a problem. Cutter is the reason of my grinding) Thank you for the advice.

One more question. Are mining missions viable resource of money?

There are almost no missions for high value stuff like Platinum. They will neither pay 250-300k per ton which you can get in some station.

There are 'mining' missions. You can fulfill these by buying the cargo in a station (if it is cargo that is on sale)
These can make good money but I do not know a lot about those missions. They might be rare or not spawn anymore.

So here is the boomerang:

Do you just want credits or do you want to mine (for credits)

Make sense. Thanks.

They can be, but as a side, not as the main task (at least in my opinion, others might see it differently).
Osmium missions, when allied with a faction , pay each ton about 360,000Cr, more than Platinum, and Osmium is found along with Platinum, so keep an eye out!
