Engineers Lasers better than MC for huge points on a Corvette now?

Really missing the extra damage that my thermal overcharged multi-cannons had. Re-rolled to autoloader but doesn't seem as effective. See a lot of good things about thermal efficient beams but engineering mats are running low for experimentation. Anyways, wondering what the meta was now for PvE so could work towards it. Thanks for any thoughts.

Thanks, may I ask what you have on the other hardpoints please?

All gimballed overcharged Multicannons with autoloader experimental-except for 1 of the small's,which has Corrosive experimental for the hull debuff.
If you have an Elite SLF use the Multicannon one,and you hardly need to use your own-not in PVE at least.

hehe, exact opposite to what I had pretty much; huge multicannons and rest lasers. training a new pilot so she is pretty useless at the moment unfortunately but will bear that in mind.

Twin G5 Focused PA's with Thermal Conduit about 269 Combined absolute damage. Shot speed like rail guns. Rest are OC Burts and Beam lasers.

Not tried PA's in a long time...when I did it was extremely difficult to hit anything other than a large ship, maybe I should try engineering a couple at some point.

269 what? DPS? I dont think so.

Sorry copied the wrong number from inara. DPS is 65 with both and and Dam is the 269.

I need to build a separate set with the new engineers to see what I can get. I know my Legacy ones have multiple secondaries.

Generally I'd say it depends, if you are going for more overwhelming dps, then MC would be the best, but if you simply want to be able to keep going and not worry about ammo, lasers, and they aren't bad in themselves.

G5 weapon-focused distributor with cluster capacitors + two huge gimbaled G5 OC multis with autoloader + five gimbaled G5 long-range beams with thermal vent. Not the best in terms of DPS, but definitely best in terms of comfort. Multis do not drain capacitor on 2 pips, and that long PEEEEEEW from five beams is usually enough to strip shields from anything you meet in RES.

I use 2 HUGE pulse laser with Efficiency and Phasing sequence ( so shields melt and i get the hull to about 85/90% )

then the rest are MCs with auto loader and 1 with corrosive shell. ( all with High capacity magazine) i can stay in HAS sites as long as i want ( normally a full gaming session 3-4hours )

Condas melt in 30secs..

been playing around with 3.0 and beams, quite enjoying being able to pop SCBs while firing
With my current setup, i can fire 2xhuge, 1xlarge beam for 13 seconds before draining the capacitor. 3 pips to sheild and weapons.
its 31 seconds with 4 pips

i do miss the MCs + corrosive but running out of ammo is balls.
loving the new thermal vent beams + SCBs + 4xRails. heat is totally managable. and that is popping 6A SCBs while firing continuously in a fight

Edit: i will still never forget the golden days when corrosive first came out, adding to 2 huge MCs and taking the vette out for the first time. oh my. i had the red laser colour on and the screen lit up in vibrant red as ships just melted away.

Horses for courses really. Max DPS isn't the be all and end all for weapons. The Vette is fairly nimble for it's size, so I run One huge pulse G5 efficient with over sized secondary, and one huge beam with same effects. One large rapid fire pulse under the belly, and two efficient medium beams again G5 with over sized mod. 2 smalls are long range rails rapid fire.

The reason I mix the two huge, is beams strip shields, but pulse do more hull damage.

Use LR5 Fixed Beams with thermal vent myself. MCs on the mediums/large, and feedback rails on the smalls. Maybe not the most efficient but shooting beams on that thing is just fun.

Tried that in beta.

Gread DPS and all that, but not comfortable. Two C4 MCs and five beams gives you instant response from all guns. Cascade rails are useful only against engineered terrorists in wing missions - ordinary pirates in HazRES or military ships in CZ usually has extremely weak shields.

Two huge efficient Beams - one thermal vent, one oversized
Large and two meds - overcharged MC's with reloading
One small high capacity corrosive MC
One small turreted pulse laser, long range scramble spectrum (long range so I can engage fleeing target at 5-6 km, entice it to come to me)

All this huge beam talk... did they finally increase damage falloff start? Having to shoot over the entire ship used to mean a 300 meter engagement range before you started strangling your output.

Trying your build tonight,I hope it is as useful as you claim-blown a crapload of Biotech Conductors...

BTW how long doe's the capacitor last with the beams on 2 pips?
