Launch Trailer for Elite Dangerous on the PS4

Yeah thats an interesting statement - not the usual 'nothing to announce' but more 'keep you eyes open for further information'....

Thats interesting, I wonder if they can get support for SAITEK - I'm sure other manufacturers would love to get access to the PS4.

Still 'nothing to announce for VR'.

SAITEK and other manufacturers have to support PS4 not the other way around.

It's extremely well done.

However it gives the impression that ED is something that it isn't -- an action MMO.

There could be a lot of disappointed new players if they expect mass battles and seeing lots of other ships all working together.

I'm actually surprised Sony allowed them to do this. I thought Sony recently changed their policy so that trailers had to be from gameplay, not cinematic, for the very reasons you stated (disillusioned players). Am I confusing Sony with Steam?

you got a reference or link to that thought? Nice idea...

I'll have to search for it. It was either an article or a podcast that I had come across shortly after NMS was released. Like I say, I might be confusing Sony and Steam. It was related to the surge of people demanding refunds for NMS in those early days.

Yes, I also remember a statement regarding showing gameplay and not cobbled together edits. This was due to the NMS episode. However, let's look at how ED works on X Box, which is fine. I have no reason to believe it will be anything but tidy on the PS4.

My main concern regarding the PS4 rollout is that it will be wrongly assumed by the 'uneducated' as a shooter, rather than an immersive galaxy sandbox. For info, I backed this game and bought for the Mac (as no PC gaming rig, but do have a PS4) - so I am fully aware of the nature of the game; but I wonder how many PS4 owners are?

I'm sure all readers on this fine forum are up to speed and have realistic expectations - I'm more concerned for the folk just getting the game after seeing it casually on the PS Store, or seeing the edited trailers of people blasting their way to glory.

Unfortunately, I do fear for some fallout from the 12 year olds.

I think some PS4 players will think it's all about the "pew pew"(sure there are conflict zones and bounty hunting if you want) but as you said, this is more of a sandbox where you're dumped in a sidewinder with some credits and the game just says "do whatever you want".

I also remember this being brought up back on PS3 days with Aliens: Colonial Marines. What they showed at E3 was totally different to what the final product was. I got duped on that game as well as NMS.
