Launch Trailer for Elite Dangerous on the PS4

Yeh I understand most is not in-game footage which is not a criticism at all. I am just curious and desperate(!) to see how the game looks and performs on the PS4.

I have every version of the game currently available and I can tell you the game in very nice on all platforms as far as performance goes. The graphics do not look quite as good on XBox One as they do on my PCs, but it still look darn good. As far as game responsiveness goes, I'd say that the game can even be a bit more responsive on the XBox One than on the PC when I comes to loading times. I bet the game will be more responsive on the PS4 than on the PC at least initially because there won't be as many people using the server resources dedicated to it.

Okay so pardon the NOOB question but riddle me this Batman....

So ED is launching on PS4 as HORIZONS right?

So does this mean we are initially at least, missing out on the 'whole world' of elite that is currently available on PC? So do we miss out on Engineers, Guardians etc. or not? It would appear from the release announcement that we get 'everything that currently exists' in the ED universe but I'm just checking... bearing in mind we won't be getting HOTAS or VR initially - what else don't we get initially...

call my a cynic...

This might be a noob question because I'm not sure how the 'seasons' stack across each other - if that makes sense? - so if we get ED Horizons we can then 'purchase' a season pass to Guardians or not?

The PS4 release will include the Horizons season pass- so this includes Engineers, Guardians, and Commanders (Multi-crew).

SUPER DEE DOOPER - i'd hate to be spending all my time boning up on all this stuff to find myself in a wireframe bucket with nothing to do...:O

Re: HOTAS - the other threads pretty much confirm it - NO HOTAS FROM LAUNCH and the websites involved with Thrustmaster HOTAS are pretty clear - if it isn't an officially supported game, it likely won't work - or certainly may exhibit 'faults'. That said... cmon they'd be absolutely frothing at the mouth barking dog CRAZY loony tunes NOT to go to PS4 HOTAS eventually. While i have the cash lined up I might wait to see when it gets 'officailly' recognised - or when it does go live maybe PS4 players with HOTAS can keep us informed of their progress - or not. Same with PS VR - you just gotta!!!

Will there be Joystick support for PS4™?
So far we have confirmed that Thrustmaster will be supported for Elite Dangerous on PS4™. Please keep an eye on our social media channels and forums for further information after release.

It may not be supported from launch but it will be eventually.

Yeah thats an interesting statement - not the usual 'nothing to announce' but more 'keep you eyes open for further information'....

Thats interesting, I wonder if they can get support for SAITEK - I'm sure other manufacturers would love to get access to the PS4.

Still 'nothing to announce for VR'.

I believe this is more of a problem that Saitek has to approach. But i fear they do not see a bussines case on PS4 right now since their Sticks are all high priced.

The T.Flight was designed by Thrustmastet to be an entry level HOTAS that works for PC and Console and therefore has a build quality and functionality on par with a gamepad. Even the street price is on par with the DS4.

So if Saitek would see a reasonable Sale here ( by Thrustmaster selling Thousands of T.Flights which i do not believe ) they might aproach Sony to get the X series qualified.

So lets hope that Elite brakes the edge on HOTAS with console because then we might see more high end "esport" like HOTAS in the sub 200€ range one day...

From everything I've read, while a thrustmaster t-flight X works on the ps3, it won't on the ps4. The thrustmastrr t-flight 4, was designed including button lables that match for the ps4. At a glance, they look identicle. However the "4" has a blue ring around the sticks bottom, the "X" has a sliver ring.
