Launcher download stuck on 100%

Okay, the problem is in title, but the thing is according to logs it downloads game entirely and when checking hash of files(specifically those in win64) it finds 1 or 2 mismatches, and then downloads them again and again and again... without end! Nothing works, and you can't even crash stupid launcher because it thinks that download never happened, and you need to start from scratch. Tried to disable virtual cache, didn't help, then disabled multithreaded download it killed speed to pretty much zero(16 hours to download game, seriously?!). How to force launcher to think that i already downloaded it, so i can verify files without launcher constantly s***ting itself?

UPD1
Found how launcher detects the downloaded and "ready" versions of the game, it uses VersionInfo.txt in not "ready" to play there are VersionInfo.txt.new... Real clever, yeah.

UPD2
The problem SOMEHOW resolved by itself, didn't even need to do anything... Strange launcher.

Try to disable your antivirus, temporarily, either completely or only disable scans for the folder your launcher is or the folder the launcher is downloading the files.

Yeah, the most amusing part? I do not use antiviruses, at all. Even windows defender is, in fact, cut out of my OS.

They you may have some crap on your computer that's modifying those files.
😒

edit: or you have some issues with that particular storage subsystem (bad/failing hdd/ssd, cabling, etc)
the fact is, the launcher is behaving as expected, what is not expected is those files failing the checks - which means you should find the underlying issue that causing the files to fail the checks

Redownloading game now, when I encounter same problem i will just close launcher with Task Manager. Force it acknowledge that the game is ready to play, and then just verify files. And my hardware is not a problem, new m.2 ssd plus this is the ONLY game/launcher/platform that has this problem. So to me it looks like just bad or poor thought out coding in the launcher, really.

I'm pretty sure it's not an universal problem, so it might be transitory or your system..
Specifics probably pretty rare, but similiar behaviour was seen, no? People got stuck on 100% before, maybe they just didn't check for logs... The version of the game that is somewhat corrupted launches fine, without crashes. This is the most confusing part... You just can't login and play if you don't run it through launcher.

Well, it works for anyone else, except your particular setup.
If you still think the launcher is bad... 🤷‍♂️

Well, it's common for the launcher to appear stuck for like 5-10 minutes (the old one did that, not sure about the current one)
But other then that, if performed as expected - it updated the game and then allowed the user to launch the game

I probably just encountered rare bug in the coding, but I stand by what I said. This hash checking loop? It can be resolved if the algorithms were a little smarter or better. Hell even putting download on pause, or continuing from power outage would have been possible. Launcher is pretty lazily put together, really(not complaining, because even if poorly it works).

Yes, I've read similar complaints in the past, and yes IMO the launcher could be better. But I'm pretty sure that the problem isn't universal. But in the end, if you get the game working, I guess that's what counts.

And you're downloading files from the internet in 2024?
You will be surprised how easy is to avoid viruses if you just think what or where from you downloading something. I just do a general sweep of my OS once a month with online scanners(Dr. Web CureIt, or eset analogue or just install antivirus for several hours to scan), and you're good to go. Hell, I didn't had a single virus in 10 years or something? Really you can dodge most if not all problems of this kind just by being mindful.

Old article but still getting this problem myself. The strange thing is that the download just takes an age to start, grinds along (on gigabit broadband) then gets to 100% (<1 min to complete) and locks up.

This only seems to happen when using the Frontier store/direct from frontier dowwnload. Using steam or the Epic store gives no issues at all.

only workaround I've found is to download via the epic store then copy the files from that install over the top of the frontier store install...

try post 2 suggestion to see if that sorts it............

The updating feature of the launcher is a bit badly designed in that it will show some kind of downloading progress, but then it can spend several minutes unpacking/installing the downloaded packages without showing any sort of progress, so it may indeed look like it's just stuck at "100%", even though it's actively doing stuff behind the scenes. In most of these cases you simply have to wait. It will eventually complete, and the "play" button will become enabled.

Btw, if instead of it being seemingly stuck at 100% you are getting an error that the downloading failed (I don't remember the exact error message now), this can often be solved by clearing the Windows download cache. To do this, in Windows's search bar search for "internet options" and in the first tab click on "delete..." and then "delete" (I believe the "temporary internet files" is the one that needs to be checked for this. The default selection of what to delete will work.) This is yet another one of those quirks of the launcher that can be extraordinarily hard to find a solution for if you don't know it.

yup pretty much what he said:rolleyes: in that it only appears "frozen"
(another way to empty said cache via the edge browser is detailed in my post no 2 link above)
if you want to monitor whats happening download wise tis better to use the task manager (Cntrl alt delete)
and the drive read/write disk activity monitor therein......
