The one thing that is impractical in the multiplayer ED world is any form of time-travel. Even modelling Einsteinium time effects of close to light travel don't work because everyone is on the same time-line - hence no FFE-style dream-sleep anymore - welcome frame-shift supercruise.
So a weapon that has time-travel after-effects seems most unlikely to be sourced from FDev.

There was a science video on youtube which basically slammed "Lasers" in space, because there is even less particles in space for the laser light to reflect off.
The only thing that would "light up" would be well, a conduit of charged particles, like a electric bolt, or a ray of plasma....
