I don't know if this has already been considered by FDev, and or whether it could be changed if the core were to have been the wrong choice, but for me and many others it has to be first person, third person is like asking Lewis Hamilton to sit on the back wing of his car... it's dumb, but not for everyone, many players like the extra info from the third person view and like to watch their chosen body do it's thing, but not for me... again!

So would you ask for first person, third person, or both, and would/could it affect your purchase of a legs expansion if you can't do the one you like?
This idea already been decided years ago. So you are not going to get a third-person view. Third-person give too much of advantage vs the first person.

They will let people fly their ship third person but it non combats.

It should be the same with walking around.
 
Would prefer first person.

Main question from me though is what we will do with space legs.

I can only hope its some non-mandatory gameplay but one that is also useful and beneficial.

Perhaps they can add caves to planets and we can go exploring them and... no, wait, that would be just dumb.
 
Thing like getting too and from the SRV bay seems like a likely change, though perhaps FD would give the option to transition without walking around.

I imagine they would provide some other limited functionality, perhaps we get in ship manual repairs or some sort of engineering plus ability to tinker with modules a bit - something to give players a reason to get up and move around but where this is additive. However additive that is though they'll be people saying they are 'forced' to do it - if you gain the ability to get up and perform ship repairs as an addition to existing functionality they'll be a group of people complaining they are forced to even if they can continue playing without doing that, because it is there I must... Anyway, we'll see :)

External ship repairs could be like a zero g version of subnautica repairs on the cyclops, run about inside putting out fires and patching holes. Then swim about outside welding holes and swim over to the canopy to peep into the control room and see the damage display for any that you missed. Always liked doing that.

Obviously switch swim for spacewalk.

That's why I think the "avatar" concept is the best solution for all aspects.
In dangerous place you never leave the ship with your body, you control a reinforced body with neurological link (like Avatar the movie). When the Avatar dies you are back to the ship and you need to use another one from the stock or create a new one with synthesis.
If ship is under attack while away with the avatar, the avatar is immediately informed. You can disconnect the link with the avatar and you're immediately back to the ship. You lose the avatar of course. The SRV can be retrived later if you don't leave the instance, otherwise it automatically self-destructs.
If the ship is destroyed while you are away the avatar link is lost and you respawn at the closes station with the rebuy screen.

In safe place, like inside the ship and in starports you simply cannot die. Nothing harmful can happen. If you need to repair your ship from the outside while in space, you need again to use the avatar, the ship will not let you to go outside.

Which would I feel be a good thing, there is far too much 'blam' done 'blam' done in the game already, about time FDev took stock and slowed these 'instant task completed' gameplay characteristics down.
 
1st or 3rd person tends to be a heated discussion (I expect iMmUrSiOn posts to pop up), but I personally would want 1st person view only. We still have the vanity cam for nice pictures.
We could have mouse wheel scroll out for third person view, and if in used combat it only does a forced surrender...lol
 
How about they fix the damn bugs first and get rid of the store button in game?

They fix bugs all the time. They also introduce new bugs.

That doesn't stop development of new stuff, nor should it.

As for the store button, i understand some people take issue with it, but it doesn't affect the game, its just a button. Worth keeping some perspective.
