Let me buy LEP & Cobra MkIV

LEP has also been on sale.

"The LEP was included as a backer reward for purchasers of the £80 "Digital Download Pack" tier of the Elite Dangerous Kickstarter in 2012. During the pre-launch beta period in 2014, it was also included in the Premium Beta bundle for £100.00 ($150.00 USD). It was made available for a third and final time from August 6, 2015 to September 14, 2015, at a cost of £130.00 ($195.00 USD); existing owners of Elite Dangerous were given a £10.00 ($15.00 USD) loyalty discount. "

(From the wiki)

Yes, it has. For the third and final time.

I don't honestly care about the C.Mk IV either. But the LEP is a different story, for two reasons. 1 - it was an exclusive reward for certain backers who paid a lot of money up front and were actively involved in the game's development via testing and participation in discussion. It wasn't something that was paid for, but rather, something granted as reward for a very specific endeavour.

The LEP was paid for. It was put up for sale and I was one of the people who had access to buying it. This was at a time when I didn't do anything (not a thing) to deserve a reward. I wasn't a backer, didn't partake in any discussion, never tested anything, etc. I was a random customer. I didn't buy it though. It seemed a bit pricey for a relatively unknown game.

As for the Cobra Mk IV, sure, release it to the masses. But replace the exclusivity with something else that nobody else would have access to. Like fuzzy dice.

A retro 'Jameson's Cobra' would be a good feature to mark the 25th anniversary. We have it as a bobblehead, but a real ship would be cool. However, it would probably be branded as useless.

They're not going to offer LEP's because they want people to pay for the expansions. It was either that, or subscriptions.

I and many others got the LEP granted as a reward for the very specific endeavour of pledging high enough for it during the Kickstarter.
Other's got it granted as a reward for the very specific endeavour of paying cash for it separately later on.

Hope that clarifies things for you.

I got CobraMKIV and have absolutely no probs with other players getting it.

I dont see how giving it to other players violates any contracts.

I never signed a contract with FDev guaranteeing me exclusive rights to some of their IP. I dont know any player who has either. Frontier owns CobraMKIV and can do what they like with it even if it puts a minority nose out of joint; the majority would be happy. And I as a horizons pre-order(I ordered horizons the very day it could first be pre-ordered) have absolutely no qualms about other players' getting these benefits, I would be delighted if they did.

It would have been a really good(and missed) opportunity for Frontier 25th birthday to open CobraMKIV and LEP and the Alpha/Beta backer bonuses to those who were willing to put hand to pocket. As well as new paint jobs etc. Looks like all they are gonna do is wait till people jump 18 zillion light years.

Signing off,
