Let us store cargo in stations, or SOMEWHERE

Will never happen, FD have categorically stated, in words and everything, that cargo storage is not going to be and will never be an option. Why, because they know, and most of us know it will be exploited and the last thing this game needs is more exploits!

I need storage cos my friend might ask me to join him in a wing and I need to drop everything and do his bidding - unless I am exploring, or doing passenger runs, or mining, or well anything else that I find fun. But yep I need storage cos ….. umm, err, I screwed up and picked the wrong mission in the wrong ship but can't think of a way to fix my idiotic mistake so I want FD to hold my hand. Oh but there was that time I decided on the spur of the moment, whilst in the middle of doing a mission, to buy a brand new ship cos it looked so pretty and I have the attention span of a gnat but I couldn't cos I already had cargo and I cried :D

Oh that is so funny and so true

☝Precisly

Just thought I would save some of the usual suspects some time and effort and post what they were going to post - see I can be nice :D
After you covered it all...Well, time to close the thread, I suggest

For a % of the cost of the cargo per day, sure.

Don't want all those "horrible market manipulators griefing people " now :)

Won't be suffice enough. It's easy nowadays to get enough credits in a day to buy your own Coriolis. 😏

Here the thing. When the pro-Storage people try to counter now on the tread, edit your main post. So people can see Their crazy ideas.

Why? What possible use is this apart from gaming the BGS / Powerpants?
Not really worth asking the OP - this thread was necro'd in post#2 so the OP is probably long gone

Storage is a common request from new players - before they realise they don't actually need it. All us old hands should probably just accept that and do like we did when the OP posted - ignore it completely :D

One of the reasons those wanting storage have quoted is that they can't transfer cargo when they buy a new ship. Well I proved (to myself at least) that it is possible and here is how it happened.

On one of my missions I saw the station was selling rares. I haven't got involved in rares so like an inquisitive child, I bought the lot, all 44 of them. Got back to my home station, and found that I was actually going to make a loss on them. Bit of research showed me I needed to travel at least 300ly to get a decent profit. That is when my mind went sideways and my impulse gland kicked in. Decided I needed a long range, high volume ship with decent weapons and survivability stats. That little discussion in my head resulted in the purchase of an Anaconda. Yet my Corvette had 44T of these rares on board, how could I possibly do that without having a storage facility. To make matters worse, I actually complicated the issue by deciding to trade in my T-9 after stripping it. This wasn't a real impulse thing, I did spend a good hour going through various builds on Coriolis and working out what modules I had in storage, and what modules I could steal/retain from the T-9 (ended up not having to buy more than a couple of modules for the Conda!).

Anyway, swapped to the T-9, the goods swapped across. And because I had done my homework, I knew without a shadow of doubt that a brand new Anaconda come with 6E, 5E, 4E and 1E cargo racks, that is 114T of cargo space and I only needed 44T. Home and hosed, not an issue and all done without worrying about storage.

Now to shoot down the complainer: If I was buying a ship that didn't have enough cargo space I would have waited until I got rid of the rares or just sold them for a loss - I was spending millions, the loss of a couple of hundred credits is so insignificant it doesn't warrant thinking about.

So, it seems the impossible is possible, go figure lol
