General / Off-Topic Let's Have A Debate .... What's The BEST Food .... .... .... In The World.

So this debate, what do you think is THE best food in the world?.
It can be anything you think, the only qualifying condition is it must be edible to us humans. So shards of glass are not acceptable.

I'll start things off with ... The Sandwich.

The sandwich consists of bread and a filling. The most common sandwich is two slices of bread, buttered and filling between the two slices.
Here's why sandwiches are the best food ever, because you can put almost anything in a sandwich (except maybe soup, but even then you dip buttered bread into soup, so it's just a reverse sandwich).
There's so many possibilities for fillings that there's always something someone will like. And if you have a medical reason to not be able to eat certain breads, there's almost always some type of bread you can eat.
There's also different types of sandwiches that include, but are not limited to, hotdogs, pizza and crackers.

So for different breads, types of sandwich and variety of fillings, I propose the sandwich to be THE best food .... .... .... in the world.

Regarding the sandwich, there is nothing worse than eating sandwich every day, especially if you sit at work. ;)

Ah, but what if you ate a sandwich every day, in a sunny park with fresh air and birds tweeting?
I am inclined to think that the negative point you make about sandwiches every day is more to do with the location than the sandwich ;)

Potatoes. Because there is a lot of ways to prepare potatoes, including the absolutely best way: french fries!
IMHO potatoes are better than sandwiches because you need less ingredients. Also you can do good dinner with potatoes with two additional ingredients or even without additional ingredients. And eating sandwiches for dinner is like not dinner ;)
Second reason: potatoes have a longer shelf life.

I agree.

However the sandwich must be balanced (not too much sauce, condiments, no calories and contain proteins) from what I have read.

But eat a sandwich every day, no thanks.

But I admit that some have no choice. :)

But you become obese if you eat potatoes every day

Not if you can do 10 kilometers running every day :D
But seriously: this is a flaw of potatoes.
Of course it is excellent in this case since it is slow sugars.

I myself am a great fan of intense walking with a lot of slope at 5% -8%.

Around 100-120 kms per week.

It is the best to keep the physique slim and being able to eat a lot of cookies ;)

BBC suggests... jellyfish?

Down here we have a kind of sandwich? called doubles.

My grandfather sold the creator the original supplies in 1936. During war rationing, he continued to supply flour oil and chickpeas to the Deen family.
The sellers would move on bicycles, with a box of these in brown paper bags. Originally they were sold open-faced, as originally served in India, but that was an insufficient meal for high school boys, who began ordering it "doubled" during the wartime, creating a thick spicy sandwich out of it. The term was coined at my old high school.

I don't know if it's the "best" food, but it's very popular. You get them with tamarind sauce, hot pepper, and a range of add-ons.
When the Australians and English med students came for rotations, they ate it 3 times a day. It's quite hard to find any after dark- they are usually sold out by lunchtime.

There is no debate.

Its bacon.

I might not be on the same path as you guys here.

Where I live anything you can do with two slices of bread you can do with a steamed or baked bun. LOL It doesn't leak (less than sandwiches anyway) and they're backpack-resistant (read practical). So I get that, yeah.

I guess it boils down to what you mean by best. Most nutritionally dense? Most sustainable? Most tasty? Something that brings you personally the most pleasure while eating?

That being said, bacon, dark chocolate, or foie gras all make me wriggle with delight. Too bad whisky isn't generally considered a food. :p
