Let's talk about a third otter

If we get a third, the sea otter is objectively the most unique pick. I'd personally prefer NARO as an American whose local zoos don't have the sea otter (although the Audubon Aquarium, which I really ought to visit next time I'm in New Orleans, does). Plus, the sea otter seems like more of an aquarium animal. With that said, I think the NARO or EURO would be pretty easy to mod from the ASCO, and unless included in a specifically clone-focused pack or as a free animal, I'd feel a bit ripped-off by them.

I really do love the Sea Otter, and I think we'll get support well into 2023 so I feel like we've got time for it eventually. They're such intelligent creatures with unique habits and a cute fluffy face that I'd love to have my guests fawn over! The North American and Eurasian otters seem too similar to the ASCO, even if I'm much more familiar with the North American author I think the ASCO is a fine enough otter substitute.

I hope we get a third otter from a colder biome for those of us who build zoos in cold areas and snowy environments
This I am , yes I'm so agree with your post, we need a third otter, I really wish we will have the sea otter , personally I love it and it's so difference to the others otters :)

I would love to get a Sea Otter, visualy very different with some unique behaviour. I am not too concerned with the rarity in zoos as we already have the most common one, so a rarer one would be ok with me.
I know there are still people wanting EU or NA otter, but for me, it would just be a slightly larger ASCO with a different continent tag and that would not justify its inclusion in a DLC for me.
Sea Otters are also in a lot of aquariums...such as the Shedd having some.

I think other River otters are not necessary as we have our ASCO. Giant otters are on a whole different level
So therefore the thing we are missing is Sea Otters.
Here’s my thoughts, suggestions and things about sea otters.
Southern Sea Otters could fit in really well.
Give them a kelp enrichment and maybe an underwater foraging rock shelf.
Females are lovely and cute, I could see a group of 5 per habitat, in the wild sea otters form “rafts” of multiple members of the same sex and sometimes hold hands as they sleep. Sea otters can spend their entire lives in the water so they won’t have much land requirements, probably enough for the keeper to get in and feed them.
Many Northern sea otters in captivity are rescued as pups when they are either stranded or abandoned, many of which end up at the Alaska Sealife Center after being rescued, in time they will be sent to other facilities for future care. Pups have so much to learn from their mothers that we cannot teach them therefore pups are non releasable. Northern sea otters usually weigh up to 100lbs and eat 25% of their body weight every day which includes clams, mussels, octopus and many things we pay too dollar for. Therefore the northerns cost more to take care of. I’m not as familiar with southern sea otters but I believe they are more manageable.

while this is just a game and some viscous nature of animals is ignored, male sea otters are monsters and should never go near females or seals. Feel free to look it up!

Yeah if we get a third otter id want the sea otter to get the spot because its the most distinct in comparission to the asco and giant otter imo. Also i have no problem using the small clawed otter as a stand in for the euroasian river otter for example.

Although i feel like the sea otter is more of a aquarium animal than a zoo animal, could be wrong tho. Are there any "standard" zoos that keep sea otters?
