Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Wow ... don't let Orfeboy see this before it gets fixed, or he may well have a heart attack

Pretty much - the combat bonds generated a huge amount of influence change. As a short term fix we'll balance that right down and reset Lugh to yesterday's values.

Thanks for you diligence Michael. However, personally I would question the concept of factions within a civil war stealing influence from other factions that are not. Them damaging each other makes total sense but stealing influence from those not involved does not. in hindsight it would be very easy for a tiny faction to start a petty war with its peer only to suddenly take over a whole system very quickly.

It might be worth considering that scenario if that is indeed how it works.

I guess the "influence through combat bonds" mechanism is bugged and makes combat bonds a superior influence generator that makes everything else pale in comparison. By the looks of it I'd guess that there are no diminishing returns built into it.

In this case it was the sheer volume of them. It seems a lot of kills were claimed in the battles.

Interesting.

In our current civil war we went to 95.1% with Alliance Combine.

Strange folks, these people from the future. Nothing makes you more influential than killing a healthy amount of people. ;)

Thanks for your efforts to fix it.

Aw, too bad. I wanted to get some pew pew action in my home system :-(
Good to see, that this is still an experiment and catches bugs in a controlled system.

Keep up the good work everybody - I'll be trading some more to kit my Asp for the big fight ^^

it does make sense that some influence would be taken from factions not involved in a civil war, sympathy from the other factions (or greater respect for the underdog) could apply. But it should be a marginal diff not the massive swing we just saw. (good to know warzones affecting influence is possible though).

how many bonds did it take to generate this swing. (!joke!) I mean, I only killed 673,340 ships in the warzone last night ;) (!joke!)

WAR!

Great!

I'd love to join, since the Sons of Conn will come back to Lugh!

Nevertheless the Sons of German Internet Providers and Parcel Delivery managed to conspire against me taking part and providing me with no relevant internet access until at least the weekend.

Very encouraging that in those revised figures LDF (Indy) gained 0.7% and DOL (Fed) lost the same. You can see the same effect on the earlier overbalanced numbers, too. That suggests that more of the commanders that came in chose to fight against the Federation.

War! We will rock them!

Edit: In my first visit to the nearest conflict zone from Knight Dock, I've found Cmdr Grenade, and Cmdr Basthrad to be hostile toward our cause. You know it...

Would it be possible to apply a law of diminishing returns to reputation changes by combat in a given time period, rather than reducing the absolute contribution a kill makes?

I would prefer to keep the influence the warpartys have as a limit.. so two factions with 5 and 8% are at war. After that war, the maximum a faction can have is 13%
