Lets test this persistent universe and see if FD are true to their word.

Looks like the PowerPlay update is going to completely revamp missions:

Looking further ahead we have the Powerplay update, the big announcement is still a couple of weeks away but I can reveal a bit more of what will form part of the wider update and that is a major overhaul for the missions system. This isn’t directly part of the new Powerplay feature, but does supplement it. We’ve been working on this since the game’s initial release to provide us with a mission system that will support the game as we keep adding new features and content and improve your experience with all missions.

We’ve focused on a few clear goals for this revamp. The first is being able to provide a wider range of missions and in a method we can easily add to and increase variation within the mission type. We’re also adding the ability to select mission locations and targets (where applicable) in the galaxy and system map. Greater use of the player inbox will be used to support mission branches, making them easier to manage.

One of the limitations of the current system is that missions tended to be a good option for starting players, but not so much for later on in the game. The overhaul will address this issue by making missions available for more experienced players as well as specific missions for higher ranks or status – such as being a Founder level member. The system will also expand the influence of reputation on missions to reward players who build a high reputation with minor factions.

As with any major update we will take the opportunity to add some incidental improvements to the game. One such improvement is that the maximum loan value for ship rebuys will scale according to your Pilots Federation ranking, allowing a greater safety net as you progress through the game. For ship customisation you will also be able to fit more than one fuel tank to your ship – although this obviously takes up space you could have used on other modules!

Thanks!

Michael

Could be useful if the fight for Lugh is still ongoing when it's released

I broke the coffee machine, and the insurance doesn't cover it. had to warm it up somehow.

genius. i will never again question your motives.

so, the original assumption that Power Play was mainly about missions has been amended apparently. i wonder what else it includes...

I'm going to get a T9 fill it full of fuel tanks then park that sucker inside a fed owned station and wait, just wait...... muahhahahahahah

With the addition of drones and their ability to transfer fuel between ships, a tanker like this may be able to refuel an entire fleet of fighters in flight. Not that it would be particularly useful since fuel scooping would probably be faster, but still too cool to not do and take pictures :D

Just sold 21 pages of exploration data worth about 9 million credits to Hartsfield:

ok, final straw. I started collating data on doing CSG missiosn and so far, out of the first 20 missions I have done.... 0 have resulted in a CSG influence change (according to the results screen on the mission completion screen. check out my pitiful spread sheet:
spreadshet
each mission completion was an orange bar for influence change for CSG. :(
no idea what this means as I see the ingfluence changing daily. ARGH, very annoyed we can't see how our own actions affect stuff :(

(p.s. I think I should stop buyinh the extra ton of liquor for the journey home hic)

Well, I hate to be the one to do this, but...yeah, your personal efforts amount to a pretty blue arrow or a pretty red arrow. Unfortunately, no one truly knows how each personal piece of influence goodness affects the overall numbers. If you do enough stuff, you can get a feel for it. If you find a small lonely system, in the middle of nowhere that has no traffic running through it, you can get a lot better idea of how your individual contributions help out.

This is the bug that has bitten groups like the Mercs of Mikunn, Flinns operations in numerous systems, and those of us in Lugh. We push the numbers less scientifically than the others, mainly because we are closer than others to the community at large, and we can never be sure how many people work for us and against us at any time.

Take heart though! You are having an influence! Until you aren't. Then it's wait and see what we broke, or Fdev broke, or see other players in the system and introduce ourselves and help them understand the importance of supporting CSG and our efforts! Overall, it is fun. It is also rewarding to see the numbers actually move and things change within the system.

Oh yeah, influence does not change in real time. There are two ticks when it changes, once in the morning and once in the evening, both 'times' are GMT.

the thing is, there is no indicatiom of effect. I just get the orange bar of no change for CSG. that is the maimn thing I am grubmling about. I know I am having an affect, I take solace in the fact that the CSG influcence is increasing each day :)

p.s. I just docked at cavendish and no on e challenged me..... truth be told. I had made friends with the on duty enforcer and was only there t pick up the clipper that was gathering dust ;)

LOL! Glad you made friends! And yes, the lack of feedback to the background sim is hopefully something they improve in PowerPlay. But then, PowerPlay might only be about new handling of power requirements within a given ship frame. You know, since group play and control and being in charge are frowned upon by those in charge! ;P

what's the deal with interdictors?

do higher class/ratings make it easier/quicker to interdict someone, or to escape an interdiction?

cause there is a dude running around lugh that simply cant be interdicted. all he does is sit there and talk smack, and it's getting really frustrating not being able to do anything about it. he beats every interdiction, every time. the one time he interdicted me (which he won't do when there is more than one person in-system) he beat me instantaneously. no time to fight it, and i wasn't at zero throttle.

his name is clopnaz, and i'm putting a 1 million credit bounty on his head. picture or it didn't happen.

last seen in lugh eh? no problem ill get on it!

I think it's the bigger, the better.
But then again, it was about a month ago I interdicted npc's easily (in a cobra with a 2C interdictor), I tried it again last night with much hilarity and frustration, because I had trouble interdicting even npc haulers in my python with a 4B interdictor.

Maybe it's something relating to the size difference between you and your target: if you have a little ship and interdicts same size or bigger, you only need a small class and rating, but if you have a big-ass ship and try to swat sidewinders, you need the biggest baddest module you can lay your clammy hands on.

I know I will give up interdicting anything untill I can get my hands on a vulture again. Bounty hunting in a Python is (for me) restricted to Nav points and RES.

And a shout-out to my wingman for the evening, Xeonyx! Do some good with the dividends :)

Short Vacation

Im taking a short break to look at the scenery after a a war and a few weeks of nothing but but missions. Hmm does anyone know how far out from Sol NPC stop spawning and how far out you can start being credited as discoverer. Ive scanned a few so far a fair way out , the very first having a terraform-able water world with carbon based life, about 5 other terraform-able metal rich ( a dozen or so metal rich all in all ). Ill be back soon to dump the data in Hartsfield.

If you are not directly at the main tourist spots 500 LY should be enough.
