Level 2 and 3 detailed scans

They aren't working for me. Did a detailed scan of approximately 300 objects after the latest patch. Only showed as having 160 credits in Level 2. Level 3 remained at 0

No I didnt think Mr Brookes had this right when he first posted it. obviously not an explorer. i wondered whether level 3 were first time scans but from what some are posting that doesnt seem to be the case either. so the most likely candidate is the mysterious 'penetrative scan'. after the update i was given several hundred level 3s but dont ever recall seeing a penetrative scan message. So still confused.com here. Perhaps some further clarification from game designers might be in order...

Bump we need a dev response to this. I have had the double scanning occur and still have 0 lvl 3 scans. I do believe as a previous posting commented the double scanning is just network related problem or a very minor bug.

I have 1300 level 2 & 4000 level 3 if I remember correctly.
The pre/post 1.1 patch theory is the only one that makes sense to me.

About penetrative scans, can they be objects scanned pre 1.1 but sold just now ?

And yes, you can forget about double scans, that's just network issues. I remember a day when I had to scan some pbjects more that 5 times.

Do you need to actually turn in your scans before the 2 and 3s are added up? Because while my systems visited count keeps going up, non of the Level 2 and 3s are during this expedition.

Yes, you will also not receive the first found tag if someone has scanned the system but hasn't handed in when you get there but then does hand it in before you get back and hand your scans in.

That makes sense to me too - I wiped my save about the time 1.1 came out and have been exploring since then, always with ADS and DSS, and have no level 3 scans after over 2,000 systems of sold data (although I haven't sold data from a recent trip, so will need to double check).

Also agree that the multiple scans are network/server issues - they always coincide with longer FSD jumps and occasional connection failures for me.

Thanks guys, I am no longer confused about the double-scan idiosyncrasy, just still bewildered about the lack of L3 scans. Hmmmm...

Does one get a notification when being the first to discover? I mean when you hand the scans in obviously?

Or might it have something with you were the first to discover an object? = lvl 3 scans. Otherwise it is detail 2 scans.
Currently I have visited 5627 systems
12805 detail 2 scans
6070 detail 3 scans.
Been to Sag A* and back so plenty of "first to discover"

It probably won't change until you register (sell) the information.
