Lifetime expansion pass holder- Ascendancy ??

I have a LTP and it seem i can install the latest expansion Ascendancy.
I haven't played lately, so may i have missed some news.

Does the LTP still valid?

It's not an expansion, just an update. It should automatically download.

The lifetime pass is still valid, but it's useless if they don't make any more actual expansions.

They've stopped giving updates numbers. On your launcher, click "manage" then "check for updates" and you should be good to go. It updated automatically for me on Steam but I don't know what you have. You can also click "versions" on the launcher and make sure you're playing Odyssey and not Legacy Horizons.

I don't think you would be able to play with an outdated client. So, if you can run the game, you should be up to date!

(I would guess that it will be just an update, as I somehow get the feeling that Fdev is done with expansions, and is just releasing everything as a free update. They might have got scared of paid updates with Odyssey, which launch was not stellar. The current early-access-monetization strategy seems to also indicate that no more expansions, just updates. I could be wrong, of course.)

So far the only thing we know is what they told us on the stream, and that's just very roughly what it will contain. So far no specifics about its features or in which shape it will come to the game.

It should not matter though, because you'll get it either way. And if all the others get it for free as well, that's a good thing. In any case, you will have it.

Don't get me wrong. Even if it were a paid expansion, just like Odyssey, I would buy it. It's just that I get the feeling it won't be, and will be just a free update, just like the Ascendancy update.

I think so too. I'm under the impression, they are creating "endgame" content here and want it available for everyone and keep people playing.
Frontier seems to understand that the best way to make a game into a cash cow, is making its players happy.

In addition to this - for reference, the current update should be/is 19 (unofficially) so you should see something along the lines of the game version being 4.0.19 (but as said it won't launch if it's not updated anyway, so... yeah).
