Lights in Witchspace - Anyone noticed this?

I'm not sure if this has always been there...but I have a feeling it is new. Sometimes when jumping through Witchspace, a white / blue orb, very similar to a star appears in the close to mid distance. It usually fades away very quickly. However what is interesting about the light, is that it doesn't move in relation to the witchspace tunnel, it seems to be separate to it.

Anyone else noticed this?

EDIT: Just captured one on video. You can see it towards the end of the jump, it moves from the left to the centre of the screen. Sometimes they appear much closer to the ship.

It might just be a false alarm, and a graphical glitch of some type. But it only happens occasionally, and always in a different location within the tunnel.

If you look at stop frames of the hyper jump, you see a small light moving left to right on the left of the screen. It disappears as you begin emerging from hyperspace.
But there is another one that appears on the right of the screen just before you reach the target star ... it drifts from right to left and disappears behind the right pillar as you fully emerge into real space.

I think they are just part of the layers that go into the visual effect, aren't they?

I don't see these when I am jumping, but then I am in the middle of the bubble and a long way from where you are. But I haven't stop framed a recording of my jumps.

Yes, the more I look at it, the more it does indeed look like that is what is happening. Almost as though one of the cyclinders that graphical layer of stars is applied to, reverses its directional spin towards the end of the jump!

All the alien stuff is starting to take its toll!!! :D [haha] [alien][alien]

I can't quite see what you are referring to in that video, but I think you are right - that it may be related to one of the graphical layers of stars...

I had totally forgotten about that! Yes, it does look very similar. I remember the amount of times people used to post here asking questions about that particular "UFO"! :D

Yes, the ol' Foo Fighters, and not the band. I have seen these and a few other sprites that don't move with the background stars.

St. Elmo's fire obviously. ;)

i have seen this since 2.2 dropped. I wasn't sure it was mentioning on the forums though.

I had one travel across my entire screen once, on long arc from left to right then disappear down in the lower right corner of my screen. Made a post about it. Everyone thought I was nutz.

Other ships in the conduit? like in super cruise where you only see a bright pinpoint glow from them?

Interesting stuff. It seems likely the example in the video might be a graphical glitch then (perhaps).

I've also seen different lights though, on some occasions they hover fairly close to the ship, moving along with the ship and then fade away. I've only noticed those ones a few times though.

The tin foil hat isn't creaking by the way - but perhaps I have made it a bit too tight... :D

Seen alot of these, ever since the new Hyperjump GFX was introduced.

My theory so far :
- Hyperspace GFX is split in two key parts
-> initial (RNG) wave of FX mixed together
-> closing part, where it looks like B Suns (or even Gas Giants/Dwarfs) are warped into place where they'll approximately would be visible in SuperCruise after arrival in the System

Initlal part can last very long (i.e. due to typical lags).
Closing part (if spotted, not always well visible) indicates networking has completed all procedures and arrival in new System will be within a few Seconds.

At least that's the way I see it and it kinda makes sense. Similar to a reverse effect seen to what happens when leaving a System into Hyperspace (which is basically just visible Suns/Stuff at the moment of the jump fading away quicky).

PS.
Still a tiny bit disappointed that the main Sun seems the only thing getting bigger in the center (for all I can tell).
Would be cool to see a difference when hopping into a Binary, i.e. as a last moment heads-up that things could get a little interesting after arrival.

I'm not even sure the Hyperspace animation always displays the correct Sun - i.e. when hopping into a System where a B/C/D Sun has the higher Mass and is the actual jump destination - regardless of what the HUD says when starting the Jump.

I don't need to look at the video to know what you're talking about because I noticed myself a couple of weeks ago.
At first I dismissed it as a graphic bug, but it happened more and more often. You can clearly see what looks like a bright particle moving counter to the prevailing path through witchspace.

I was also reminded of my old friend, "Bob", from when I was exploring in my early career. A will o' the wisp that moved in your field of view when you moved your sticks. It appeared when you were within 100ly of a gravity well like a white dwarf, neutron star or black hole.

Sometimes I miss Bob.

Actually noticed this on a few jumps enroute to Colonia and thought it was kind of odd. By the same token, they keep tweaking the jump tunnel so I just chalked it up to that. With the recent hyperdictions though, it makes you wonder. :)

Xbox CMDR here, new to the forums and posting from a cellphone, so forgive me.

Ever since the release of The Guardians update I've noticed strange lights traveling in directions that don't really make since. First time I noticed it was when I left the bubble about 1-2k ly out on a passenger mission, the light orbs would outpace me in hyperspace, but be towards the outer fringes. Since time have gone by I've been noticing them getting closer and closer, and now it since the hyperdictions, it seems as if they're almost right on top of you in hyperspace. I made a dvr when I first caught a glimpse of it during the passenger mission, so I'll have to see if I still have the clip, and what day it occurred on. Just some of my two cents about the situation.

Flying around the Relic site ( ten or so jumps out ) I have not seen any of the lights you speak of although I have seen them before. I think you might be on to something. Red and White lights are used in Marine navigation if my memory serves me right.

Saw them too during a recent exploration trip. I nicknamed them "The Red Eye" since I mostly saw red lights moving in odd directions and felt like I was being watched. Very creepy with the hyperspace weirdness going on.

in the original hyperspace animation i dismissed the light orbs as the ship passing stars just outside of witch space, but in the current animations the lights arent as pronounced, but have similar patterns and yet extremely subtle, it could be a piece of the puzzle we are missing.

Obsidian I do believe you are onto something here my good sir
