List of long standing (small) requests

Good thread.

A few more suggestions:
  • Show bookmark names on galaxy map so that you can see why a bookmark exists in a given region of space.
  • Galaxy map bookmark folders and/or custom colours so that you can organise large numbers of bookmarks.
  • The ability to combine 2 or more galaxy map filters so that you can refine your galaxy map view and plotting routes (e.g. Independent systems in a state of famine, or non-visited systems with scoopable stars).
  • Show FSS/honk results in the cockpit in analysis mode so that you can immediately identify signals of interest without having to stop.
  • Add a ‘scanned’ flag to surface POI’s once scanned so you can keep track of those you've scanned.
    • BONUS: Mark all matching POI’s with identical signatures on a body when 1 is scanned so you don't waste time visiting the same POI type dozens of times.
  • Support for surface bookmarks.
  • A keybind to switch between relative mouse mode so that keyboard and mouse players can also enjoy playing with flight assist off.
  • Multi crew support for SRV so that ground assault missions become true multi-player activities.
  • Ability to ignore missiles as ‘highest threat’ target so that 'target highest threat' actually targets enemy ships in busy combat zones.
  • Imperial clipper, Orca, and Type-7 to be reconfigured as medium pad ships so that they become real contenders to the Python and Krait Phantom. They are wasted as Large pad ships.
  • Add bots to CQC so that players are not required to play against human opponents.
  • Offer material rewards for CQC victories.

I'v got some more to add if you are fine with it. When you go for outfitting , you cant use any of the station services during the "load". If you just ask to "go in" you can , to have the same result (nearly). Juts make it possible for both.

Also i'v seen in the beta the "maximum amount button" for credit or fueling ect. I'd love to see this one when running trading mission , so i'm not forced to + the 18 to 120T of mission cargo.

Edit : I totaly support nanite2000 post , also alot of good point in this !

Rewarding PvP content. Doesn't have to be crazy or game changing. Something that would be enticing for players that haven't done PvP before to try it would be amazing but even an option in CQC to use our own ships and a credit or mat reward for winning a match would be awesome too.

While i'm not against some pvp reward under certain circonstancies , I think every improvement we try to point out/notifiy to FD do not involve creating or changing game mech (appart for limpets) . More QoL improvement.
PvP reward suppose creating a new game mechanic loop. Also if done wrong it could give some reason for gank/murder , a thing that utterly disguts me.

Edit : I dont want to go in some PvP open VS private or ganker are bad /normal constest. I think this topic is a really good thing and hope we wont "pollute" it with some barren argument.

Added the request for Type-7 and Imperial Clipper Medium Landing Pad version.

Add this to list of things I'd die of happiness for.

If either of those ships were medium ships they might very well have beat out the Keelback for me, for totally different reasons.

Type-7 and Imperial Clipper versions for Medium Landing Pad: both Imperial and Cargo Lakon ships lack of a medium ship and many share the opinion that this gap should be filled by the Type-7 and the Clipper. Less popular, but the same, applies for Saud Kruger ships, where the Orca could fill the missing medium size.

Voilà, I don't know how I could forget this...

Honestly it would be like Christmas came early if they hit half your list. This one right here... butts in seats. Good lord it's such low hanging fruit but folks have been begging for it for literal years.
Yes both here and on reddit I've seen so many proposals. I also made one but was way more complex because included deeper changes so I left it out from this "simpler" list.

BONUS: allow customisable flight suits for crew.

I suppose (speculations of course) that if Legs is implemented these will be a thing (for Arx of course!).

I completely agree that any kind of system shouldn't reward players for ganking innocents, which is what everyone wants to jump to when PvP content is brought up.
Something as simple as making San Tu and official PvP arena system and waiving ship rebuys only in that system or like I mentioned, making an option to use our own ships for CQC and giving credit or mat rewards to the winning team would have absolutely no effect on the the rest of the game and community while giving pvpers something.

Added your contributions as well...
I did not put all because I don't remember all being long standing requests, but if other players confirm so the confirmed ones will be added.

I remember this. I actually remember the disappointment when players discovered it was not possible because it was expected as a basic multiplayer feature since SRV's were introduced.

Bit of a concern with regard to misrepresentation at the moment. It's presented as though these are things which are agreed upon.

As it stands there are indeed quite a lot of non-contentious things in the list, but there's some contentious ones in there. Some have been discussed a great many times (as I'm sure you're aware, OP).

You've spoke about the coding side of things, but for contentious issues, it's not just a matter of coding. The coding might be pretty simple. That's not the main barrier.

I think it'd be best to be up front about that and not try and pass contentious things off as though they're things which everyone has asked for and it's just a case of them not being implemented.

Might I therefore suggest separating the list into non-contentious ideas and contentious ideas. It'll keep things much cleaner all round.

The non-contentious ones (in terms of there being no objections which aren't development priority related) from the list (prior to any additions from post 35 onwards) are as far as I'm aware:

  • Fuel Jettison: required especially by explorers when they need those extra 2-3 LY jump range not achievable because of fuel weight in the tanks
  • Launch Cancel Request: when you press by mistake Launch at the starport and during the platform movement you remember you forgot something (limpets, srv, whatever) and you don't want to go forth and back. It can also happens by mistake at Fleet Carriers and during a jump count-down could be a disaster if you're not able to dock again. Alternatively we should be able to request docking again without the distance restriction nor the need to leave the station.
  • Additional graphical identification marks for planets with biological and gelogical signal: additional identifications in the navigation panel and in the system map to localize these planets after the FSS scan without the need to note them down on paper (impossible in VR of course).
  • "Terraformable" identifcation in the FSS: in the FSS interface, on the planet information panel the "Terraformable" information is missing. It should be added as it is in the system map (thanks @Bigmaec)
  • People shadow movement in the control towers: add some shadow moving forth and back behind the control tower windows to give more life to starports.
  • Crew on board: add crew to the free seats in the cockpits (where available)
  • Improved Outfitting menu: add options to filter module types and save/load ship outfitting configurations.
  • Bugged Planets Rendering in the System Map: many times, opening the system map after the honk, some planets appear empty/without texture
  • HUD customization colours: being able to change the HUD colour theme. It is already possible through 3rd party tools but this has unfortunately unwanted effects on other graphical interfaces
  • Faster to way to restock items (limpets, powerplay items and so on): the click and hold to change quantity is sometime very slow. Many times it has been suggested to add the possibility to enter the numbers directly
  • Nicer way to manage material ignore lists: the ignore/stop ignoring item is limited to the left UI panel and available when materials are spawn. There should be an independent menu/display with all information filters shown at once where it is possible to manage them properly
  • Improved renderings for NPC pictures: Next Era maybe? (thanks @JohnRoberts for the last 4 entries)

Some of the items are non-contentious in the sense of there not being a negative aspect to them in game, but for which I'd personally not really want dev effort going on them over other things (unless it was minimal). That's a different discussion though.

Also, what are you actually looking to achieve with the thread, OP? Would you be happy if working on all this stuff was prioritised and other things, say, for example, atmospheric planets, were put to one side to do it? Would be worth thinking about, and making clear.
