W-w-w-w-wait hold up, sorry to ask this stupid question, are these new player factions already in the game or is it part in the CQC update? How can I make/join one? How would I choose a station?
yeah no problem
some of them are in 1.4, currently they just have a station there as an NPC faction (so players dont own them).
it was however said, that in 2016 there will be a way for them to become a Power.

Can someone point me in a direction of how the player-associated faction stuff works? Like if me and a few friends wanted to do our own thing, how would one begin? Or is it all informal?
I believe you would need to contact the devs to create an official in game faction, however you don't need to do that and can just adopt a faction already in game or just do your thing without a faction.
