I agree, was trying to find out the story behind what the game is or about and all anyone wants to talk about is the thargoids- not sure how to spell it? But how did the Imperial come to exist- if it all started in SOl then the Federation started first and then the Imperial broke away- why? The only people who tell you anything are the players? It would be nice if more of this kind of stuff was explained in the 'game'.
Ya! I went to get that stuff - the only way I knew where I could find it is cause someone had it on their own website, when I got there(Exact co-ord) it was protected by stingers and no one said anything about that! And now I just learned that the Thargoids get ed if you take geeezI have not logged in since the last up-date. I don't see a requirement for a super cruise assist, but I have not looked yet to be sure.
Agreed: More genuine advice, would be good. AN Example: No one confirmed, that having mata alloys or shooting for same, will up-set the Thargoids. That sort of question has been asked, a number of times.

it is a game, that has one goal, for the game to achieve, against you. That simple goal, is to kill you. The makers offering advice, of how not to get killed; defeats the object of the game.FD always seem intent, with ED, to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Through, seemingly obvious, oversights such as this basicnessness.
Tell yo players how the daahm thing works
I found out that one, the hard way.Right hand menu-->Codex-->Knowlege Base-->"The Empire"
Thats actually something that IS explained in the game. Not saying you're wrong in general, but they are actually working on this.
Just today I discovered there is now an ingame explantion of the difference between 'jettison' and 'abandon'
I seen that on the page CODEX but never opened it- didn't know what it was, as a former programmer I didn't want to open it until I knew what it was. Codex is base level programming(Setting) that causes thing to change- so I was being careful lolRight hand menu-->Codex-->Knowlege Base-->"The Empire"

The main issue is: Most of the 'secrets' are out there. A lot of them are here and who knows how many other forums and websites. Those in the know, know where to find 'the walk through' for their next question.Yeah but not just fairy-stories 'bout stuff.
Actual factuals about how what you do can affect things.
(BGS, I'd be looking at you now, if you were really there.)
And LOADS of other stuff could be explained- beyond the oft naff sci-fi prose.
I guess it may break that 4th wall that ED is very good at maintaining. Too good, perhaps.
That is so funny. Sorry.
F,D. only will employ sadists and have a long history of 'not explaining anything about how to play Elite'. They prefer to just throw you in, at the deep end, of a pool that sharks live in; then turn off the lights and walk away.
Thanks Krash, seems to be working...Got the first one doneThe rank-up missions are obvious: "The Imperial Navy wants you to ...." The mission details will even state the next rank.
I don't know. Some stuff should be explained better, other stuff is fine in my opinion. I like the fact that the BGS mechanics aren't clear to everyone, it's a background simulation after all. On the other hand I wouldn't know how to interact with Thargoids or Guardians without reading the forums. The best way would probably be to introduce some missions that guide you through the necessary steps if you want to unlock Guardian modules for the first time.Yeah but not just fairy-stories 'bout stuff.

Ya I think the missions should be leading you down a road...
