Loaning System (farming proof)

Loaning System (farming/exploit proof)

Just posted something I might have a roll on at the moment...

When you start the game you are given a ship with all loaned components, any of these components sold are non-profit.

What if you could build on this a little? say, you have a friend in a wing and you want to have some more firepower than just a pokey sidewinder.

An option is to loan a ship to a member, higher ranked players can 'give' a ship with all components present...all modules cannot be sold or customised. but the player is able to use the ship as per normal otherwise. all engineered modules remain too.

to keep beginners been given Anacondas to bump about in, ships are available to be loaned based on the receivers rank. someone who is elite can be given any ship whilst harmless, aimless, penniless are only able to have small ships up to a Icourier.

Insurance costs still stand, even though the ship is loaned the user must pay a fee to reclaim it. a USE AT OWN RISK approach.

and of course the loaned ship can be returned to owner at any time where he/she can freely change/sell his/her own modules as per normal.

any thoughts or things to add to?

take care CMDRs!!

If a player is unable to afford the ship in the first place then the chances are that they'd struggle to pay the insurance - risking a total loss.

.... plus, twinking of freshly reset / renamed CMDRs would be a thing - and not a good thing, in my opinion.

.... the proposal also completely bypasses rank-locked ships and earning access to Engineers, gathering materials and data and all the travel associated with that (for the recipient).

I think the player needs to learn how to play the game and not handed a super ship then expect to play. Then have Both players whine when the new player dies because of lack of experience.

Or another would be. Let say I have 9 Billion credits. I could outfit a few Elite players. Which would be unfair to normal players.

To be honest, the economy is currently quite broken, so it would be possible to help a new CMDR earn loads, simply by taking them bounty hunting, or direct them one of those typical mission exploit systems.

But early game is one of the best parts, so I'd highly advise against boosting a new CMDR directly in to the "grind phase" of the game.

You can fairly quickly progress from Sidewinder to Vulture, but all of that is a an affordable learning experience.
After that, it's more about earning money for the next bigger ship (if you want one), which become less affordable to make mistakes in, the higher you go.

yeah I agree, it would be abit unfair I guess...

what I was going for was for a player to 'Borrow' a Locked ship...it's not theirs. just to simply use to make their own credits along the way. all parts cannot be changed or customised.

I really don't want to wing up with sidewinders if I can help it....

It's not that bad. Lol

Wing up, head to a HAZ Res, and tell them to hold fire until you give the word.
Grind a high bounty enemy down to a few % hull, and then order them to open fire.
You'll both get a sweet payout.
Within 30 minutes, they'll be able to buy a half decent Viper MKIII.

Then you can start playing properly in a wing. :)
