Local Bounties

How do you pay these off? I go to a system and discover I have a local bounty but I have paid off al outstanding bounties at IF. If I get scanned I get attacked.

You have to find a settlement that's controlled by the faction who has a bounty on you (will have a little red scales next to it). You land with anonymous access, and you have to "hand yourself in" at which point you pay off your fine and respawn in your ship docked on the nearest prison megaship.

Usually over a piddly 1,000cr bounty. It's really @#$@# annoying.

But how do you know who it is from as it doesnt show in the transactions tab? It only seems to show when you land on a settlement and it says local bounty.

Especially if you spend a week getting hostile with every system faction :D

Hmmm...I just paid off a local bounty issued on me (said 'local bounty' in the disembark screen) at an IF without issue. Keep in mind that, in Odyssey, an IF cannot clear a bounty if the faction that has a bounty on you is present in the station (or maybe even system?) where the issuing faction is present. So use INARA to find the closest IF in a system where that faction isn't present and you should be good to go. Also make sure you relog after paying off the bounty because IF in Odyssey are still a bit borked and, apparently, the Odyssey servers can take some time to propagate the updates when you pay off bounties.

Edit: Also, what @Bottom Hat said if all else fails.

I think it was just a coincidence. I had a bounty from a faction and then went to a settlement with that same faction and it showed as wanted but I didnt spot it was the same faction. I then went to another settlement in the same system and had a local bounty there as well from (now I know) the same faction again. Then after getting zero notoriety I paid the bounties off and so I now have no bounties. So a local bounty just means same system? it is not the settlement that you have to visit just pay bounties of at the IF in another system.

Local bounty means that you'll be targeted in any system where the faction is present. Once your bounty level gets to a certain point (see the lad Bartlet for more!) then it turns into an interstellar bounty, which means the woo-woos and the nee-naws will be coming after you. (So if you rack up enough bounties against Imperial factions, for example, then you'll be wanted everywhere in Imperial space.)

Go to an anarchy IF about 30 light years from the system you did the dirty deed. I use inara. Pick independent for Allegiance and Anarchy for government. That pretty much insures that the local faction isn't there and you can then pony up the bucks...

Be aware that if you are notorious, it gets a little more complicated.

I appreciate that this is an older post, but I had no idea that if you wanted to pay a bounty through an IF, that you were supposed to find an IF in a system where the bounty issuing faction is not present.
I've been logging out of Odyssey and launching in Horizons to pay it because I'd assumed it was a bug!

Yep.
Be aware that the same goes for an interstellar bounty (if you manage to get one) - you can't pay it off in any system where the leading faction is aligned with the affected superpower.
