Ship Builds & Load Outs Ships Locations of shield generators on ships

Can anyone tell me where on various ships, such as FDLs Cutter,Corvettes, etc. the shield generators are located.

Are they internal like PP or on the outside surface?

Search the forum for this but couldn't find any info..

In which case whereabouts - top bottom aft fore etc..

In short how hard is it to snipe them with rails/plasmas ?

It depends on the ship, most boosters will be on top. Module sniping is very hard and only works when the shields are already down

It is possible to snipe shield boosters using flechettes (they can bypass shields), but from my understanding it is very hard to do. You're probably better off using the flechettes to shoot out the thrusters and force your opponent to reboot, then snipe their power plant with railguns.

OK - sounds interesting. Might not fit with my crazy plan which is Otto's Suicidey:

The idea is to have a bit of fun teasing gankers in Shindez - I fully expect to get blown to bits, but want to survive long enough to give a bit of slap and tickle..

Engineered it all in open so far - have been threatened but not actually interdicted yet.. maybe folk think " OK whats going on here?" and choose to leave me be? Run the gauntlet on several engineer bases with no ill effects - haven't been to Deciat, but the tales of seal clubbers may be exaggerated..

There is still some work to do on it - once its engineered up, the scoop will go and the 1A SCB exchanged for a 2A SCB - the DSS will go too and a couple of class 1 hull reinforcements instead.

Weaponry - I'm not experienced in PVP, chose rails for fun and to get the hang of fixed weapons - and that then means heat is a major issue, so most of the eningeering is to keep the PP and heat under control, which might explain some of the choices - advice welcome on more entertaining weapons for having a laugh with. I'm after an " Oi ! stop that! " response from my targets before they disintigrate me..

I was kinda hoping that people might have some labelled images showing the hitboxes for different ships. I have only seen the one image of these, and that unlabelled, of an imperial courier. I assume that the shield gen is one of the yellow internal spheres but I am just guessing:

Thats what I was hoping to find too. That's quite a good pic for the Courier though - especially the cockpit hitbox..

Took the Sidey out for spin in Shindez last night - quiet as anything - place was full of do-gooders and no-one to bait in sight :(

Maybe they'd all gone off to the Beta..

So still haven't been fried yet - kinda disappointing.

You can't really 'snipe' anything with a flechette...they are slow moving projectiles that deliver an AoE attack. Best one can really manage is putting it on the right side of the ship to stand a good chance of damaging the intended modules.

This is something some of us have done, but since modules have been moved, new ships introduced, and the fact that it's easy enough to learn locations in game just by targeting an NPC and cycling through their modules, it's not surprising that it's not really a thing any more.

That image is from an old developer post and I'm pretty sure it's the only ship they actually released an image of the hit bubbles on, for illustrative purposes. There have also been some changes; namely all the spheres around the maneuvering thruster ports have been removed...it was confusing people and making thrusters too vulnerable.

The forward most blue sphere is the sensors, the yellow sphere behind the canopy is life support, the one in the center is the PP, and the one between the thruster was and still may be the FSD. I cannot say for sure what the others are without checking in game. But yes, the yellows are internal and blues external.
