Newcomer / Intro Log out while in SRV?

Howdy, strangely, I never came across this before until now, can you log out the game while in your SRV on a planet surface collecting mats, (Ladylove demands me to surgically remove myself from the screen LOL) or do you come back the next day and your Cmdr suffocated? LOL In other words, does the game freeze everything and is it safe to log out this way?

Geeze you get an answer before you can correct your typos. LOL Thx Northpin! .... shouting to Lady across the Hall, it'll be a minute, or I am dead tomorrow.

You will only suffocate if you go to the resume or exit menu screen and switch off the monitor, the game will still be running. If you exit to main menu or desktop (or the console equivalent) you will be fine, as long as you do it fast enough to keep LL happy.

Well, my chicken breast in a white wine sweet paprika cream, carrots and peas with sauce hollandaise and home made fries were a success. :)

While in SRV on the planet, you can log out without losing the SRV - BUT - If you step away for over 7.5 minutes or less, you will run out of air and die - Resulting in an unscheduled return to the orbiting ship and having to rebuy the SRV. - The items or the mission will reset also making you have to relocate the mission target.

Thanks, always good to know the details!

Good advice. I was relaxing on the sofa with the wife mid- exploring last week, only to be woken by a loud crash from the laptop as my ship crashed into a planet. Never the resume screen.
