Login issue LOOP still a major disappointment, cannot play game at all?

I am getting fed up with major triple AAA game companies and their inability to fix issues like this annoying login in loop with a steam based account, which without it logging in game cannot be played, ask them for a solution and they give you all these pointless suggestions that lead to nowhere, not any solution they give you works and yet this is a simple fixable error that they don't seem to want to fix or even acknowledge. I don't have the lackluster Odyssey expansion thank God, but wish to actually play the game I paid for and if they're not going to fix this simple annoying issue that know people have; I've seen the steam post explode because of this issue in the past week or so, just proves how lazy the department that handles these issues is

Yea when it just works for others and those who use steam via geforce now... its makes it hard when it fails for others...

There is just no logic reason for it to fail for speciic users but it just can...
 
@scorpios_corz - I just reinstalled multiple accounts (PC death) and had no issues with this whatsoever.

I would suggest (since your launcher looks blue) that you try doing the "Log Out Machine" option from the Options menu of the launcher - maybe that will take you to the Log in with Steam version i.e. "STEAM LOG IN" button on the launcher which is how it should work with Steam versions since April 2019 (mine worked just fine).

Alternatively, make sure you are signed-in in Steam and (from Steam) create a shortcut to the launcher on your desktop.

I do have a Steam account and Elite purchased on steam After April 2019 and this is the only way i can login to my Elite Steam account (through Steam)
The same is valid for my Elite account that i got through Epic - i do have to make sure i have the Epic client running and authenticated, else i cannot launch my Epic Elite account

yeah this , you bought the game from epic or steam , have to use their launcher , otherwise you could just be using an illegal copy , frontier doesn't have your account details , only steams or epics login details , which only steam/ epic knows , you could buy direct from frontier if you dont want to use the thrid party launcher .

You can get this when starting through Steam as well, but usually only the first time you run the game.

I can't remember now exactly how to get to the fix, but when it happened to me I had to click a not totally obvious link at the top of a dialogue box to link the two accounts.

Look at the Steam video, and I think I had to click the link at the top of the page at about 15 seconds in.
 
Yes, it is a Steam based account, no tried doing direct .exe shortcut it still puts you in the login loop to verify your login and still won't let you login to be able to play the game. It will not let me go any further without this verification, it's just sad really that such a small issue could get more attention from both Steam and Frontier and get this problem sorted

UPDATE: Tried a direct exe start and it actually went into the game started generating everything then put up a message saying to enjoy the full experience of the game please login through the launcher, then SHUT DOWN immediately this is seriously just joke why is it failing to login then when you try a work around it forces you back to this login garbage.

What are you on about log out machine, what does that even mean, I cannot login, so how can I log out if I can't login, what are you saying logout of steam while game is active, steam won't let you do that as soon as you logout of steam while launcher is active it closes the launcher

You have a blue (Elite) launcher...

.... at the top click on "Options" ...

.... select "log out machine"....

.... close launcher window....

.... select "Play" in Steam library (or better yet, make a desktop shortcut... click that) ...

What option? there is none in the options, probably because I'm not logged in

This issue has been going on all week maybe 2 weeks now and yes I have tried every conceivable way to get around the login loop issue I'm not alone with this issue there's 19 pages on steam about the login issue that has been going on for about a week or longer. I thought it was because steam servers but every other game that relies on steam servers play with no issues

ok just to clarify , cause post never specifically mentions it , you are not launching the game from the game folder but you are using steam to launch the game , if you are trying to launch the game through the game folder ie using the launcher.exe it will not work . Also have you actually registered a frontier account?
 
I've tried from steam, even tried direct from launcher and direct from the exe, they all lead to login with their launcher or the game just shuts down (direct from the exe), I bought the game in June 2020 played it many times so yeah, the account is registered, why would it send me verification every time I try to login if it wasn't registered.
When I look on my frontier account it's like I don't own anything, not even the steam game indicator in the under my frontier account, though in the Third Party Accounts it has steam link, so I have no idea why the account has no linking information to the steam purchase of the game, when I clearly have bought played and own the game

ok was just checking , this is weird behavior , So I would contact support to open a ticket with them , one last thing have you recently downloaded the game or is this an old install ? if its old maybe try redownload it , maybe its so outdated it no longer works , otherwise try a verify install on steam , Also might want to check the firewall settings maybe elite dangerous is blocked somehow? , sorry kind of trying to suggest some things , im on epic and it works perfectly for me so maybe steam is bugged somehow

Yeah somethings really wrong as the purchase on steam is a Non-key so this is an issue between frontiers server and steams not working as intended, I've put in a ticket, I feel like they've just stolen my game from me with no reason, no warning nothing

hopefully they can sort it out , probably just because its an old account that was never used much , maybe , their support is really good , so they should be able to help
