Login / starting issue

Hi there,

I have got an issue when I tried to start the game. This is the third time. Frontier support could not help until now. Hopefully somebody of you can share the own experiences.
Additional remark: I already played the game over the last two months.

Update 30.12.2020: I unplugged my joystick and throttle some days ago. Could this affect this issue (see below)? Hopefully not!

What did I do?
I start the launcher via steam. But instead of the start button I got these login buttons at the lower left corner (see below). Because I bought the game on steam, I clicked on the "steam log in" button.

After typing in my logon credentials of Frontier (of course!), I got an eMail to verify.

When I put in the code, I got this as result.

This is annoyingly and very frustrating. Another evening I cannot play Elite Dangerous!

Can somebody tell me how to fix this?

Thanks for the link, Ettanin, I have read this already. But unfortunately it does not help, because it is only the how to paper for login. It does not explain, why the login does not work and the purchase message occur.
Remark: I already played the game. But suddenly I cannot login. Why?
 
Try logging in to your Frontier account at the Frontier site ( I think clicking the HERE in the box on your second screenshot will take you to the right place ) and then link your Steam account - option is near top of the page.
 
I had the same problem. Both of the previous answers, especially if used in tandem should correct the issue. I found that even now this problem will still occur if I'm not sure to start steam (or have the desktop shortcut for ED configured in such a way that it will launch Steam first for me) before launching the ED Launcher, you can also link up the account to frontier which should facilitate easier support tickets or other steps one can take to further look into the problem if either of these solutions fail to correct the problem. Hope it helps ^^;

The HERE-Link unfortunately only starts a registration-site.
But I can go to "my account" via the launcher. At Third-party accounts I only can see this (steam not linked - but also no option to link the steam account):

But when I login via user.frontiersotre.net I can see in my user information this:

Very curious.

Update regarding those two sites. When I change my password on one of those sites, it has been changed at the other one too. So, this means it is the same account. But I am still facing the same issue. I cannot login / start the game.

According to your second screenshot your Steam account is already linked.

And yes, HERE did take you to a registration site, but it also had the option to link your Steam account there.

There looks like something strange going on. That "HERE" surely should not take you to the redeem a code page. However, your two images in post #9 accord with my correctly running Steam commander - so you are indeed linked frontier to steam. So clicking the "Steam Login" button should work seamlessly. Do you have an option to "log out machine" in the Launcher's Options menu? - If so, maybe trying that will allow you to log in correctly afterwards.

Failing any resolution then submit a support request and hopefully they will sort you out before too long.

Maybe this screen shows up because i startet the game from the steam libary and not from the quickmenü (as i do everytime) at steam symbol on systray.

Unfortunately there is no logout possibility in the ED Launcher. I have seen such entry in menu options before. But at the moment it is not available. Obviously because I am not logged in currently. However. Frontier support is activated and working on it. It seems they are puzzled at the moment too.

In the meantime Frontier support team confirmed that my account is linked to steam and everything looks fine at my account. So, I wonder if they find the cause...

When I bought the game in Nov. I did exactly what you did. And in Nov. and Dec. I played the game w/o problems. But when I unplugged joystick and throttle the problems began. Since then I was twice in the game. But both times I cannot tell what I did that it worked. After quit the game, I was not able to get in again.
 
There are 2 ways to start via Steam:

1. Click on the Start Menu button (may have o click the ^ to see it), and then click on the game. Only works if you have started the game previously.
2. Click on the Play button in the Library page for the agem.

Have you tried both of these?
