Logitech Extreme Pro 3D + Siatek X52 FTW

Best of both worlds. I'm still using my trusty Logitech Extreme Pro 3D joystick, but just put a Saitek X52 standalone Throttle on the computer. What a combo! The throttle is taking a little getting used to, but I still have the familiarity of the Logitech stick.

I'm wondering if I can add weight to the throttle and make it match the stick. The Saitek is real light and the suction cups don't keep it firmly on the desk. I really like the plethora of buttons though.

Combined with Voice Attack, I might never need to touch the keyboard again. :)

Yeah, I like the feel of the x52 throttle. I wish I could work up the courage to open it up though and take out the two notches you hit when throttling up/down.

Let me know if you do. I'd like to try that as well, but it just arrived today. Maybe when that new throttle smell wears off.

Well I just did it.it is a 2min jobs.4 screw holding on a bottom make sure u remove the sticky feet as well under the throttle arm on a buttom on the right side there's a little black plastic which is fixed by glue remove that and screw it back the bottom.there u go.U done.if u want I can make a couple picture how to do it if u request.

I don't quite understand this setup though... Saitek x52 Pro is a superior joystick to Extreme Pro 3D as it has HALL sensors.

If you are talking about replacing the Saitek x52 Pro's stick with Thrustmaster 16000m then it would make sense because that's a better standalone stick in almost every way.

+1 rep. I'll probably give that a try when I feel brave enough.

Thanks for the offer. I think there are already vids and pics out there on it. Hell, i'm off work tomorrow. I'm doin it then.

Logitech Extreme 3D Pro just feels great in hand. Been trying T Flight Stick X and the T-16000M but Thrustmaster don't know anything about ergonomics.

If it's anything like mine, it'll dislodge itself over time.. fantastic workmanship over at Saitek lol

good combo. that logitech is very good, smooth and precise. better than the x52pro, imho, i have one but i do use the saitek because of the extra buttons.

the thing with the throttle bumps is a nobrainer, you'll see. and they're really annoying, you want to get rid of them asap. you could in theory program them to perform boost/reverse but it's a bit wacky. you could try that first, maybe it suits you, but i don't think it's practical.

about the suction cups ... just make sure the table is smooth and the contact area and cups are clean. apply some moisture on the cups (saliva will do) and press as firmly as you can (not on the throttle, you might break it, but on the corners of the base right over the cups), put your weight on it just for a moment and they should stick like glued. if not, then the table is no good for this, try to get some nice flat surface.

to remove don't pull, just lift the edges of the suction cups so they stop ... sucking :D

That little dial on the left side of the Throttle is to tighten the throttle. You should be able to tighten it enough to match the Logitech 3D joystick. A small suggestion... If you bought the entire x52 kit, you should consider swapping out the Logitech stick for the x52 stick, it is infinitely more precise and has a larger diameter between the axis. I graduated from the Logitech Extreme 3D to the x52 Pro set up, and never looked back. The only issue I have with the x52 setup is that the internals after a period of time will end up requiring some sort of warranty service. I bought three of them to ensure that I always have one available since I have 2 of them set up on computers, one for me, one for my son. If you have the means, by a secondary set in case you have to send yours out for warranty repair/replacement at some point. The good news is that MadCatz is very good with the warranty service. I have had to send my sets to them a few times, but I have about 1200 hours of play in this game, so I cannot say that the joysticks have not gotten their fair share of work put into the game. I have never had an issue with their warranty service, and it is pretty quick once you submit a ticket, at least for warranty service. I generally have about a 2 week turnaround in between sending them and receiving a new set. Actually, they have never repaired any of the sticks I have sent, they have always sent completely new products each time I have sent them out for warranty.

Great set all despite. I love the setup!

Our ISP had an outage today, so I took the opportunity to remove the detents. There's just one little rubber thingy there with 2 springs and a bunch of sticky grease. The throttle feels so much better without those detents. :)
