Ok in-game your throttle does not have a neutral zone..no centre click midmost on the actual throttle means you have to create a neutral zone to centre stick and move it 1cm either way and nothing happens...you do this by making the in game throttle deadzone about 2cm.
The stick to stop your nose wandering, needs a much smaller deadzone in-game. 3mm 5mm or so experiment.
These deadzones are within the games own settings

my solution to this was to use throttle as forward only. on Virpil I use the thumb stick on Virpil (and one on x56 stick before as well) for thrusters forward and back, then when in flight most of the time I set the throttle in blue zone and use the thumb stick for slowing down, momentary speeding up or reversing. When I need fine tuned controls of forward/backward thrusters, I pull throttle all the way back and use the other one but that's mostly when landing of say scooping up materials in HGE, You get the picture.
Edit: Not saying Your way is wrong or anything, it's just something I haven't tried really and by now I am used to my own way of flying

it works great in dogfights where my throttle just sits in blue zone most of the time, I fly FA on, so... yeah, I know.... disgraceful...
