Hey guys,

This email is being sent out to all registered contacts for Player Groups.

As some of you will have read we are soon going to be going into an open stress test phase with our latest update and we’re calling that period Mayhem.

Mayhem is a series of community events which players can get involved in that will run on the beta servers. The aim of this is to get as many people in as possible to stress test those servers.

We have a host of stuff lined up already and the schedule is looking great. But we’d love to use the opportunity to promote your events and groups too.

The Mayhem period will run between the 21st Sep – 4th Oct. With the servers opening up slightly earlier and potentially closing slightly later. We will have official livestreams, Some special involvement from some well know community streamers and open PVE events.

We’re sending out this invitation to see if any groups would like to hold an event in the beta servers (CQC or the main game) which we would be able to add to the list of events and promote on your behalf.

The events could be anything but the following are a few suggestions that are both serious and less serious.

- Group grudge match - 2 player groups each side has 1 ship each. They come to an agreed Combat Zone at a set time and the players can join in by picking a ship and joining in.
- Anaconda owners club, Cobra appreciation day, Viper parade etc
- Speed landing contests
- Races
- Etc

If you would like to register to run one an event please send us the following details to me and Ed.

- Details (Include location, any sign up forms etc)

Add any other information you want to add such as twitter or website promotional link etc.

I’m sorry for the second email of the day.

This email is just a little bit of information about Player Group Ranks and what that means. We initially talked about player group ranks on this forum thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=167459

We’ve had an amazing number of groups register and it’s delightful to see so many different styles of play and activity covered amongst them.

In order to make sure that we’re able to support as many community groups as possible we’ve got some ranks and rewards. We’ve listed them at the bottom of this email. The main use of group rankings are internal but there are some benefits for group leaders that grow and develop their way up to the higher ranks. Every group is still able to submit for CGs, Minor Factions and ultimately contest to become a power.

We’ve put your rank down currently as ‘Dangerous’. This is the basic level of group meaning that you have direct contact details for the CM team and we will be informing you of updates and news that you can get involved in like the mayhem events I emailed about earlier. The Dangerous groups range from being small groups of 3 or 4 up to groups a little under 100 people. This is the type of rank for groups that want to be included in the conversation but aren’t as large or active as some of the larger groups.

We’re happy to review, discuss or change ranks if you feel the rank should be different for your group. Remember that with so many groups registered we had to draw an initial line and we could possibly have overlooked some groups.

The finalized ranks and details are below.

Dangerous - Dangerous groups are anyone that wants to be a part of the conversation. The only requirements are that you have a group and want to hear more news and updates from us. These groups will be added to the database and contacted via email when there are events, incentives or information that they might like to know about.

What Dangerous groups can expect from us…

- Regular communications about groups and events
- Direct contact with CM

Elite - Elite groups are groups that have an established and thriving sub-community. They might have an estimate of about 100+ member (but not always), run regular events which can be promoted and are supportive of the ED team and community. These groups will be able to submit their activity to us to be promoted in our newsletters, social media or an events schedule which will be creating in the coming weeks.

What Elite groups can expect from us…

- Community site promotional placement
- Social Media promotion and inclusion in comms chatter for key events where possible
- Access to group leaders’ private forum
- Access to competition and event prizing at Frontier Developments’ discretion

Triple Elite - The largest and most engaged sub communities belong in the ranks of Triple Elite. They are likely to have a huge and super-active community, with many hundreds of active members and are a positive influence to Frontier and the community as a whole.

What Elite groups can expect from us…

- Everything in the Dangerous and Elite categories
- Premium Social Promotion
- VIP invitation to Community Events
- Invitation to monthly Group Summit meetings hosted by CM on Skype with potential guest speakers

Finally it’s important to remember that Player Group Ranks are based on your activity and continuations to the community above all else.

As always if you have any questions at all, would like to discuss the rank or want to know how you can zip into higher ranks, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Hello everyone.

I wanted to send out a quick update to group leaders on a few topics such as minor factions, Mayhem events and Player Group Rank changes. Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions at all.


Minor Factions

Above all, most people have been asking about Minor Factions. To clarify how the process is working the requests are being put into batches and then sent through to the development team. Given the large number of requests and groups we need this process in place to make everything manageable. I know an idea solution would be an automated system but this doesn’t allow us the flexibility to work with each group and also requires time to implement.

The first batch of minor factions have gone and come back. A few requests were not possible to complete and they received an email separately.

We are currently compiling a second batch to go over. The first groups that have been added (possibly with some minor changes or missing descriptions – if so get in touch, are at the bottom of this email).


Mayhem and EGX

I just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has taken a part in Mayhem so far. We’ve seen so many awesome groups and leaders taking part. There are still some more events to come which I’m mentioning below, please do check out the main thread and help your groups get involved. https://community.elitedangerous.com/node/290

Hutton Orbital vs CODE (Saturday 8pm BST) – This mammoth match up needs your help. Both sides have done a fantastic job of getting behind this event as well as getting active in the community generally. Now I don’t want to show any bias but I am calling on all Pirate crews to band together to quash this rebellion and destroy the evil Senator Van-tay-un and Princess Psykokow .

Imagine how bad this will be if a Trucker group manages to pull enough people to defeat one of the best known and disreputable (in the best way possible) groups in the game? I think it is all of our moral duty to stand strong and say “You shall not pass”. If you want to lend your lances to the CODE, send me an email ASAP and we will get you in touch and promote your support. Can the Mercenary legions of Merc of Mikunn help or the Pirate group of Ronin of Amarak (Cmon Bastian!).

Ranks

As we always mentioned when we started the ranks, we want to continuously look at and review the groups we’ve decided to increase a number of people into the Elite groups, meaning they gain access to the group leaders forum and prizing for competitions if they seem like engaging content for the community. In addition we’re moving 3 groups into the top tier. Again, we will be looking to do more of this over the coming weeks/months.

I would like to remind people that these really are just an internal way of being able to manage hundreds of groups and many, many thousands of players within those. None of the groups at any tier have a greater impact on the development of the game and we’ll be looking at how we can make the process more transparent in future.

If you feel any of the ranks are wrong or you would like have your rank changed, let me know. J

Hi guys,

There were a few people missed from the Batch 2 updates. I’ve added the details below and resending them out. If you’re still not on the Batch 1 (see yesterdays email), had feedback or on this batch 2 then you need to get in touch ASAP to be added.

In addition, I have two things for you all. One is a request for your support (again) the other EGX codes for groups!


Support Don Antonaci

As I mentioned in the previous message, we want to make sure that the great work that CODE and the Hutton Team have been doing works as well as possible. In order to do this it would be great to have as many groups as possible helping out too. Speaking (out of character) to Dave and Grant (Hutton admins) we felt it would be a good idea to add some weight behind the CODE’s side to make sure the fight is balanced. The guys have done a fantastic job of getting involved and we would like to make sure there is a real bang.

As such those funny guys at HoT turned me into a Mafia boss in the area. It would be great to have a few groups join me in forming a new themed group, just for the event. Supporting the side of the Vipers the Don Antonaci Cartel, as a group leader you will be one of the generals and your faithful legions.

If there are any brave people amongst you that are willing to fight on the side of the Vipers under my name it would be amazing, especially if you can put down your current . I will create a sticky thread tonight and add you to that list.


I know it’s super late notice but anyone that is able to help out do the following…

- Reply back to me with your Group name
- Turn up at 8pm in Vipers to Wolf 359 in the stress test servers, wing up and get into the action.
- Tweet @EliteDangerous with Screenshots of the action from your group twitters or leader Twitters for RT’s all evening
- I will also add your groups to the sticky thread that I will put up late tonight (Unless we get no one which means I will drown my sorrows in wine)

It’s the end of EGX and we’ve given away loads of codes. The first and most important thing I would like to say is sorry for the delay in the most recent batch of minor factions. Due to time restraints, Brett C is going to help compile the edits of the current minor factions.

If you are a group and have requested a minor faction but you’re not in game. Please re-send the details Brett (cc’ed on this email) using the subject line “minor factions”. You need to send the following details.

Hi everyone,

As part of a super-secret community project we’re working on we need a decent high-res version of your group’s logo
The logo would preferably in .PNG or .PSD format, but JPEG will do as a last resort.

I would need your permission to publish the logos through our usual social media channels, too. So, by sending us your logo, you’re agreeing that we’re able to use it in promotional material.
We want to keep them all on file anyway, so we can promote your groups as much as possible. The logos should be all your own work, and they shouldn’t infringe on any copyrights – otherwise it might get us in trouble.

Let us know when you send me the logo that it’s all your own work (or the work of another group representative) and everyone will be happy!

I do like your little Visual - as I said, I think it could make a good logo when modified to remove the temptation.
As for standing alone together - yup thats about what I think we's about -YMMD.

Greetings all,

I wanted to send out a quick (it won’t be quick) groups update. First of all I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the groups that have helped create homes and places for players to enjoy the game. We’re truly thankful for the amazing effort you all put into the community and are super keen to support all groups that want to be promoted. We have some big plans in the pipeline but we also want to help promote your content and events as much as possible, so if you have any events, competitions or other areas that need promotion, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Galactic Academy

We’ve been considering a new initiative to help and support new users into the game. The program is called the Galactic Academy and the aim is to support new players into the basis of the game and find a community that’s right for them.

The initial thought process is to have a new user team speak and a set of Ambassador/Tutors that help support these players into the game. Showing the real basics such as landing ships, using the galaxy map and so on. In addition we would like to consider this an opportunity to have prominent groups have recruitment officers in the chat too, allowing players to find a group to get involved in. As I’m sure we will all agree playing with a group of other players can really expand the experience for a lot of players. We would like to also connect people with the player made and official tutorials. ESS have been running a Galactic Academy as a division of their group for a while and have kindly offered to support the program and we’d love it if more groups and individuals were able to help too.

I’m hoping to have this go out to all new and inexperienced players and continue to be an ongoing project, meaning all new players to the game will get an invitation to join in. Hopefully this will be a really great way to help find new community members for your groups too.

In addition to this we are considering further “Specialists” in specific areas to help people learn the ropes. For example, Powerplay, Minor factions/BGS/ Trading, PVP etc. However, this is likely to come at a second phase.

If you would like to register your interest to be a part of the program when we launch then please reply back to me directly with the email addresses of the people that would like to take part (personal emails), commander names and any other details. For example, would you like to be an ambassador/tutor, a specialist, offer recruitment officers or help the initiative in some other way. Let us know, and we will be back in touch with more information shortly.

Xbox Groups

Another area I would like to promote is Xbox One groups. Currently we have a lot of groups in game and some are specifically Xbox One related. However, I wanted to create a directory for the Xbox One forum for people who would like to support and have specific divisions of Xbox One players. So if you have a specific Xbox one area in your group, and ways for those players to join up, for example a section in your team speak. Let us know with your group name, a link for them to sign up and we will publish these details on the forums in an official directory.

Team speaks

From time to time me and the other community team members like to pop into groups team speaks, to play the game and generally chat with the community. If your group has a team speak, please do let us know the details and we will add it to our list and try and join in where we are able.

Logo’s

Just a reminder that earlier this week Ed asked for any logo’s for community groups you have. If you haven’t seen it please do send over your logo to Ed directly (<email redacted>) so he can add you to the top secret project he’s working on. Remember that by sending in the logo you are confirming that you have the rights to use all the materials and not infringe copyright. You also confirm we are able to use your logo for promotional purposes.

Minor Factions

Lastly but not least Brett C has sent through the most recent list of minor factions. Below are the confirmed and declined factions. I have only supplied two fields. The first is “new” or “Edit”. New is a new addition to the game, edit means a change to an existing faction. The other is the group register name (NOT THE MINOR FACTION NAME). The reason is to keep the other details of the requests private. Brett will be getting in touch with all rejected requests over next week but feel free to email him directly (bcooper@frontier.co.uk) if you wish to pre-empt his email. If you are not on this list, please email Brett with the details of your faction as per the groups forum. The factions will probably be added as a server side update and could be done any time. The descriptions will then follow (English only) in a major update (2.1)
