Long Distance exploring, BUFF

For many of us who like to explore the galaxy I find the following properly annoying:

A, not being able to find planet side interests, Geysers, fumes so on, though we have taken the time to fly millions of light years, we can still can't find them and searching the whole planet is just not practical.
better exploring tech: is MAJORLY needed, same goes for poi massive buff needed as well, direct location to point to the area where to go is required.

B, Ship landing in rough terrain can be expected, however when after several hours of searching for planet items to find, you finally come across something, however faced with just no where to land to investigate kind of negates the whole exploring experience !! Allow players to drop ship there SRVs at a set altitude to have a look around, your ship can auto hover or you can send it away, when returning the same but in reverse, this would solve the silly idea of your ship always landing about 10 miles away when there are plenty of flat areas to land ( when you do find those flat places of course)

C, More content to find, I seem to recall frontier stating ages ago there was still far more items "undiscovered" well with thousands of players playing elite and venturing into the void, where are these mystery items, ( in short you are making content hard to find or plainly not adding enough. Please fill the galaxy it's there for all so please fill it with content things to find, planet and space side they don't have to relate to the lore, just something to find on a regular basis would be a start and would give players that immersion that they are not wasting weeks and months only discovering a new planet in which to name. Zooming around the surface in your ship is great visually looking for cargo, satellites, lost cities or anything needs to be made a little easier. You have designed the advanced scanners to only scan planets then we can access that planet's data so once we have lets have all the planets data what's on it, in it from wrecks, material, ports, settlements, cargo, the works locations. It seems the fairest way to go, after we have spent sometimes months out in the black.

Quality of life would be the way forward for the time being. thanks.

I believe those issues are what the exploration revamp in Q4 are supposed to address.

at least, god I hope so.

I wasted a bunch of hours trying to find some volcanism. I've found it BEFORE, and that was just random planets. But this time, I went out of my way to find "major" volcanism (according to EDSM anyway) on small bodies, to INCREASE the chance.

Nada. Nothing.

I did happen to find some cool eclipse action, though. If a planet eclipses a nearby body (twin planets orbiting each other), the shaders don't go to "night" mode. Everything gets really murky and creepy. It was quite cool.

But not a single damn volcano vent!

I've spent the last couple of weeks in the deep black and found dozens of crash sites, 13 new Braintree groves and 1 volcanic vent...only one!

Crash sites are near pointless way out there, OK you may get a material item but mostly it's just escape pods and canisters. Even if the ol DBX had a cargo bay it would need to be half the capacity of a T9 to pick up all that rubbish, better to have a black box in the wreckage that can be scanned.

I would hate to see exploration made too easy, the Guardian ruins showing up at 1000Ls or much further if you point your ship at them seems over the top easy and should have been made visible only by detailed surface scan IMHO.
Crash sites, structures, (metallic or signal pings) should show on the DSS scan as they do in missions. Perhaps the regular dash panel radar scanner could be used from orbital cruise to find organics and volcanism as the snail paced crawl across the surface is painful and even the "extended glide" method is slow and not always effective.

There is not enough content findables in space or planets and what we do find is just materials 99% of the time which is wrong.
Q4 will see the explorer changes just hoping there will be a bunch of new tech for actually finding things planet side, but frontier need to increase CARGO finds they are lacking badly, everything from escape pods to luxury and standard cargo needs to be balanced, as currently i have searched for 2 weeks and found very little if nothing on the cargo front, just material after material after material it is ridiculous.

I wish that the Detailed Surface Scanner would get more meaning.
At best it would be, as soon as we've made a detailed scan of a body, that we can see Pois on the body-map and tick at these coordinates like waypoints to get down there.
Still we would have to scan the planet and check the Pois via landing down, but we would no longer fly hours of hours aimlessly and blind cruising around a planets surface for the hope of finding anything there with a chance of 0.01% of success.

I can just agree, exploration needs improvement NOW! Give this detailed surface scanner more meaning than just increasing the damn useless payout. I'm not out there for the money but to explore.

rep+ totally agree many players are on top of this, and frontier are sorting in Q4 exploring hopefully with something along the line of mapping the planets we want to explores before even getting to the orbit cruise stage, if frontier don't then I guess it's all been a waste of time.! :([knocked out]:O:S
