Long-Standing Quality of Life Improvements

Let me explain that. I have paid for the game when I have seen it online. It was on sale or something expecting to upgrade my computer in a month or so around the same time, and my dad was diagnosed with cancer. The Bills was overkill under Obamacare. But to make a long story short. The money I had for a Gaming Rig went to help my dad. He passed away. I could barely play the game on my old rig — 5 to 15 fps.

Now the question would be. Do you want someone to partake on the Forum posts when they are not even playing the game?
Well, the 'Forum Undead' lurk here regularly, but in your case it would have to be 'Forum Unborn' given the circumstance :)
Sorry about your dad and the circumstances that kept you away, so welcome Old, New player :)

you can add a cleanup of the HUD also regarding system info. Now that we can get detailed system info from the left panel by selecting a system the rest of the HUD that is designated for system information should be updated. either we have information about a system or we don't. right now the HUD will still show 'UNKNOWN' while the galmap or system list says otherwise or is spread out over several areas when we jump to a new system (some info in the lower right corner, some in the info window in the upper right that disappears after a few seconds and some info in the high wake popup in the middle of the screen) when much of that information can be consolidated.

I'd be happy about all of these (ecstatic about some). Some of them do go a bit beyond "quality of life" though, like multicrew SRV or in-game CQC queuing.

My Two Credits on QoL:

HUD:
  • HUD Color options (be that RGB scale or just a selection of primary and secondary colors). I swear I will quit the game if they sell this (or any other QoL feature) for ARX.
  • HUD scaling (tiny numbers on planetary landing suite particularly hard to read on console). Really only need three sizes.
  • Color options for Combat and Analysis Mode reticles.
  • Option to review ship log (top right corner) or at least scroll back through its various messages.
  • Codex Entry for various HUD warning lamps and experimental effects icons (typically seen in combat).
  • Option to view ship log when general warning lamp is lit to determine what exactly the warning is (Overheating From Stellar Body Imminent, for example).
  • Odometer for ship indicating total distance traveled: In current normal space instance, in current system, and total lightyears traveled via supercruise and jumping. I'd really like to know how much mileage my ship actually has, for sentimental and immersive reasons.

Station:
  • Have in ship options 'automatically repair/restock/refuel' when landing if services are available.
  • Have in ship options 'automatically refresh paint' when landing if services are available.
  • GalNet icon flashes when a new article has been published since last login.

Combat / Flight:
  • Weapons reload on hardpoint retraction, entering supercruise, or jumping. Just pick one. We don't need a keybind for this!
  • Limpets are ammunition for the controllers rather than cargo. Solves a lot of problems. Bigger controllers = more limpets onboard before reloading / synthesis.
  • Set warning message for 'wrong mode' to only flash once every minute or more.

Modules:
- Remove planetary landing suite as a module and integrate like DSS. One less thing in outfitting.

Exploration:
  • Provide 'Fuel Scoop' HUD for Neutron Star charging, allowing commander to see progress towards supercharge rather than fueling up.
  • Option to disable "Discovered" messages by category. I really don't need to know all 23 asteroid rings I discovered. This is particularly annoying as it covers up the name and type of a body when scanning in FSS, forcing you to wait to see its own name.

Mining:
  • Display for active limpets and their timers.
  • Color ranges for Pulse Wave (with color ranges for Color Blind players) that give clues to type of asteroid prior to prospector limpet.

Cargo Bay:
  • "Total Estimated Value" counter for cargo inventory which simply sums up the estimated value of all items therein. Based on galactic average, of course.
  • 'Select' function that would allow commander to select cargo and quantity to jettison simultaneously while retaining 'unmarked' cargo.

Taxiing Ships:
  • Rebalance to be based on flat value of the ship model, significantly reduce cost overall. Denying ease of access to ships for large credit sums only hurts the player experience, it does not in any way help it.
  • Allow ships to be taxied to any station where the commander is allied with the controlling faction, in addition to their current location.

That's what I've got so far. There's more, I'm sure, but I like what I'm seeing in the thread. Here's hoping...but not too much.

Agree completely. This is getting a slight improvement in the January update: asteroid belts are now being condensed into one notification.

Ideally, it would be nice if they'd re-jig where these notifications appeared on-screen and the priorities for what information gets displayed when two or three types are in conflict all at once (discovery popup, body type on FSS, and Codex notification).

Fdev have addresses this issue in the Jan update.
January Beta Patch Notes
Instead of showing a notification for each individual asteroid belt cluster discovered, we now condense as many as we can into one message.
