Hardware & Technical Look what just turned up.......!

I can't and won't give you anymore advice as in the end it is up to you. For $300 off i would say that does represent a really good deal. I played for the first time on it last night COD WW2, and it was Brilliant, gave me an extra wide aspect of the battleground and i think an advantage when playing in Open.

I'm reviving this topic, because I finally bought the monitor this week and got it hooked up today. I actually use it for my work, but, have the side benefit of playing games on it. So far:

ED, X-plane11, assassin's creed, ghost recon, subnautica, KSP, all work on it. I can see some differences from the 4K 43" monitor that I gave up, but, it is minimal.

I have 14 days to see how I like it, then, I will either keep it, or return it.

If it's for ED, save your money and get a VR headset. It's better than any monitor could ever be, trust me.

I couldn't disagree more, a big monitor is just so much more immersive than vr can ever be. I'm at the point with vr where my rift is nothing but a dust magnet on my desk. You loose so much fidelity and detail with vr it's like it's not even the same game. Big monitors ftw! :p

I have to completely disagree. VR is far more immersive in my opinion. Yeah the screen door effect is there, but after a while I don't notice it. And the field of view is much better in VR and will get even better if the Pimax 8k is any good.

I owned both the Oculus and Vive. This monitor is significantly better, IMO. While the VR headset offers a decent experience, free head movement. wearing it was not fun. After about an hour my neck was sore, I could not get use to wearing a box on my head. I use to wear NVGs all the time, and the VR head sets were more uncomfortable.

I also love the monitor for work.

I can wear mine for hours without much discomfort, the only discomfort is from wearing glasses. The new Pimax 8k should be far more comfortable.

The problem with VR is wearing glasses underneath it. It was uncomfortable for me, no matter what I tried. Additionally, I just got tired of wearing it. Also, when someone wanted something it was a pain in the butt to take on and off. Overall, this monitor is great and I think I'm going to keep it. I can have 3 full size documents / web pages open at the same time and everything is readable. I will know for sure if I want it on Monday, when I use it for my work stuff.

Another great tool is the Samsung easy setting box, which allows you to custom design the page load outs.

I tried VR too and gave up because the resolution was ppoor, it was uncomfortable with glasses and it was inconvenient (navigation and typing).

This Samsung monitor doesn't look deep enough for ED. Surely, you need more height? Wouldn't a 4K one be better? I already have a 4k one and was thinking about a gaming monitor, but they're all high aspect ratio. What do people think are best 4K or ultra-wide? That's just for ED. I'm not bothered about anything else.
