Looking at Elite like games

Thought I'd check out Evochron first since that got the most recomendations, I'm all spent out at the moment so i will have to wait till the steam sale, rumor has it there will be a sale on yule (22 dec).

I honestly can't get into Oolite, the devs did a fantastic job of putting classic elite on modern PCs... if anything its too authentic, slow gameplay (compared to Elite Dangerous) and terrible keyboard layout, the selection of mods is pretty damn epic though, I added the "Heart of Gold" just for kicks.

So the X games are RTS's then, defo not my thing... i leave a trail of diseased cities/towns/bases when ever i play those games...
word of advice should i ever be in a vote for a position of power... DON'T VOTE CLARITY PAGE if you do it's your own fault when you die from invasion and/or starvation

Kerbal is on my eventual to get list, It reminds me of Banjo N&B but with spacecraft

I do have a flight stick but the yaw is a bit wonky and the stick now drifts, maybe i could do something with my steam controller or DS4

Any one tried Star Made? its a voxel based game but you build ur ship from blocks, more resource mining than trading but gonna try it out later

I never really got into either Pioneer or Oolite TBH so I don't have an opinion myself.

I just noticed this comment.
I wouldn't say Pioneer is better than Oolite, just....different.
Basically (between these two) if you hate Newtonian space flight, go for Oolite. If conversely you like Newtonian give Pioneer a try.

Both are great open source free games and both will always have a place on my hard drive.

IWAR 2 from 2001. Like Elite Dangerous but with good, fully voiced missions, a great story and Newtonian Physics!

There are a lot of nice games out there with a similar elite feel. The first couple of games in the X series tided me over for a while.

But Elite is Elite and nothing quite filled that gap until ED came along.
