Looking for info on Colonia

Don't get me wrong, from when Jaques was found the next 6 months were the best Iv played, the area was virgin - great for Exploring & Mining.
Trying different things week by week, waiting each time for the Thursday tick to see if what we'd done had changed anything & opened up a facility on the Station - great gameplay.
I just took offense to Frontier ignoring individual cmdr's for groups when it came to the expansion.

It's a place to go to during your time playing......like going to Hutton (but please, not in a Carrier) but longer;)
I understand and don't worry i don't have a carrier or the credits for one. I see little value in them for me . Also i wouldn't want to add to the traffic jams happening becouse of the carriers. I was stuck in a system becouse of them. For almost two days. 😕

Personally I enjoyed Exploring my way both out & back from the region. During my trips I'd used a Sidewinder, Asp, Python, Anaconda all varying jump ranges.
I'd Explored, buckyballed & Suicidwinder'd my way there or back.
All before the large jump ranges we get now, no Guardian FSD, NS supercharging. My best was buckyballing in one 13 hour session in a 40LY jump 'Conda, breaking only for lunch & dinner - then I wonder how Iv clocked up 10000hours on my game clock.;)

If you don't mind the jumping, give it a go.

Things are easier now, you can store 120 modules, have fully engineered Ship in the bubble & transport them & now jump on a Carrier.

Added: Also bear in mind that to break up your journey there are a string of Stations from the bubble to Colonia now. I have them bookmarked on my Galmap still. Should you wish to use this route just post & someone will give you a link.

Seconding this recommendation - lots of these bases are themselves in locations worth seeing.
The Skaudai base you'll probably want a 20+LY range to get into if you're thinking of flying out with the Vette, the rest are easy.

I would include Mammon Asteroid Base as a stopstation, with a low jump range ship.

Thank you. I will definetly take a break at a station and taking the corvette is probably the best choice even if it has a pretty low jump range. I don't want to pay a billion plus to transfer it. I'am in no hurry.

I see, so it's not all good and sunshine. A shame you have bad feelings about it. I can't tell since i wasn't around back then.

It's a very biased slant on it though. People asked FD if player factions could also be had in Colonia and not just the bubble, and FD agreed. It then became a fun and lively place. Some were, I guess, not so pleased but that is a given regardless of what happens.

I mean it's 22k ly out. So i can't just go back to the bubble if i forget something.

Well, it's all relative, isn't it? With a suitably equipped ship, you're talking maybe a 6 hour trip back to The Bubble, which isn't so arduous.

I'm hopping out to Colonia this evening to do 6 reasonably-well-paying courier missions in fact. Will probably only stay in Colonia a day or two before heading back (as transferring my other 4 ships out there is cost-prohibitive).

Last I heard, you couldn't get most A rated modules in Colonia, unless that's changed. I personally haven't gone out there yet.

There's also fewer engineers but that isn't really an issue as long as you pin blueprints before you head out there.

Other than that, it's just a smaller version of the bubble around sol. I think like 100-200 lys.

When I built up a ship out there A rates were easy to get at Jacques Station, but nobody had D rates for toffee.

Anyway, compared to the bubble, Colonia is a bit more politically stable, that means less system states are available and so some high tier materials need to be traded for. It has very comprehensive engineering availability, but do make sure you got all four unlocked before going, but high tier materials are rarer.

That had to be costly in fuel for the FC round trip. I was thinking of taking a Conda there with FSD booster and totally decked out for exploration. It's in my not so distant future. I have too many goals right now. Getting ready to xeno hunt plus trying to help TDW.

Can't understand how the game gets boring.
