Looking for Meta Alloys

I am wondering where I might find Meta Alloys. I really don't want to buy them but would like to get started engineering. I do mostly exploring so have no problem traveling to get them but need to start somewhere.

Pleiades sector, iirc Maia system, one of the planetary installations. They'll sell you only 2 at a time, but that's not a problem, Farseer only needs 1.

ok, looking for barnacles but ive read that barnacles are at thargoid sites, if this is true id rather check out a site than buying the meta alloy at maia or going to a barnacle itself.

Go to Delphi :- Planet 5 a. Scan with a DSS. Head to the Unknown Structure Scan. Land in the middle. Shoot the Organic Structures. Scoop the Mining Fragments.

Or you can try Hyades Sector AQ-Y D81, planet C2. There is a small barnacle site there and (1) if it is producing meta-alloy (production appears cyclical), (2) you know what to look for (it doesn't say "meta-alloy"), (3) how to recognize one when you see it (again, it doesn't say "meta-alloy") and (4) know how to collect it (you'll need an SRV), there is a free meta-alloy available. It's only halfway to Maia and free but finding, recognizing and collecting the meta-alloy requires somewhat specialized knowledge to collect and it is also a ten-minute or so slog out to the planet from the star.

Well, just got to Maia and landed on the outpost there. Selling nothing there. Market all empty! and been on prolly 3 planets with barnecles and 10 sites each planet! No meta alloys anywhere... It seems that you can buy and blow up 100 condas before finding one... Easier to get that money for that!

An alternative to barnacle sites is the Thargoid surface structures. They have the same spikes around the inner core, and sometimes have meta-alloys in the glowing green fruit.

Head to hip 17497 planet b5. I found mine at that location. Should still have some, I was able to grab like 5 without needing to relog. Found them there like 3 days ago, so should be fresh still
